Marlins signed lefty reliever Joe Beimel.
Beimel is one of those relievers that has seemingly been around forever and worn just about every uniform the league has to offer. The 39-year-old lefty has pitched for seven different big-league clubs since 2001. Last year, he posted a 3.99 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 22-to-16 K/BB ratio across 47.1 innings out of the Mariners' bullpen.
Update: Mariners activated LHP Joe Beimel from 15-day disabled list.
Beimel will be activated off the disabled list on Friday and return to the Mariners bullpen. He will serve as the lefty specialist for the remainder of the season for Seattle.
Joe Beimel is expected to rejoin the Mariners on Friday.
Beimel was placed on the 15-day disabled list in August due to inflammation in his shoulder. He seems to feel good and ready to rejoin the team as he should on Friday. He is 2-1 on the year with a 4.78 ERA.
Mariners place Joe Beimel on the 15-day disabled list.
Beimel has been struggling mightily of late, as he allowed back-to-back-to-back home runs to the Rangers on Wednesday. The Mariners believe that his struggles can likely be attributed to a left arm injury. Placed on the 15-day-DL, fantasy owners can put Beimel in the back of their minds now.
