The Diamondbacks signed Arias back in December, but the 31-year-old utility man will now have to find work elsewhere. That should not be too difficult for an experienced veteran with the ability to solidly man several positions. Arias is a career .263 hitter across 474 big-league games.

At most Arias could see around 200 PA, and he doesn't have much pop or speed, so he's not someone fantasy owners need to know even if he were to land on the big league club.

Arias was designated for assignment, but passed through waivers unclaimed. The utility infielder will return to Sacramento where he'll serve as organizational depth.

He was a little used utility infielder this season, seeing action in 40 games but getting just 58 at bats. He will likely end up at Triple-A assuming he clears waivers. His roster position was needed when the Giants activated Nori Aoki from the DL on Monday.
