Dan Uggla (back) moved his rehab assignment to Double-A Harrisburg on Friday.
Uggla is batting .191/.294/.291 this season, and there is unlikely to be any playing time waiting for him when he finishes his rehab assignment. Danny Espinosa is starting for Yunel Escobar Sunday, and Espinosa should have no trouble staying ahead of Uggla on the depth chart once Uggla returns.
Dan Uggla will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Class A Hagerstown.
It is pretty bad for the Nationals when they could really use a veteran bat like Dan Uggla in their lineup. It is even more sad because the 35-year-old is only hitting .191/.294/.291 for the season with just one homer and 14 RBI. The hope is he'll return to the Nationals next week.
Nationals placed 2B Dan Uggla on the 15-day disabled list with back spasms.
It was fortuitious that Uggla needed a DL stint just as Stephen Strasburg is ready ot come off the very same DL. Uggla was not seeing much action anyway, not since Anthony Rendon was activated in late-July. He had just two at bats in the last 13 games the Nationals played, so he will not be missed in fantasy circles.
Dan Uggla was 1-for-3 with a run, RBI and walk on Sunday.
Dan Uggla played a role in the win on Sunday with a hit, run, RBI and a walk for the Nationals. Another role player who came through, he was on base twice and drove in his 13th run in 46 games for Washington. Uggla is a role player though and his fantasy value is limited in the second half.
