NHL DFS Picks, Projections, Lineups & Stacks Today: Tuesday Playbook

Published: Mar 18, 2025
Welcome to another Playbook with our NHL DFS picks! We have a Tuesday slate with nine games and a lot of decent NHL DFS projections to choose from.
There aren’t a lot of high scoring games expected, but that doesn’t mean goals won’t be scored. We need to continue to find value and pick the right goalie. Let’s dive right into the action and see which NHL DFS picks we need to keep an eye on.
NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, March 18th
Before we get into our actual NHL DFS picks, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper.
There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option.
NHL Pick 'Em Picks On Sleeper Fantasy Today
- Mikko Rantanen O/0.5 A
- Alexis Lafreniere O/0.5 P
- Patrik Laine O/0.5 PPP
The Dallas Stars have a fantastic matchup against the Anaheim Ducks, so we’ll want to get a piece of that action. Mikko Rantanen is an elite hockey player and he’s playing with two very good players. As much as he’s capable of scoring a goal, he can pass the puck with the best of them. We’ll take him to go over 1 assist tonight.
Alexis Lafreniere doesn’t shoot the puck a ton and he’s been relatively quiet over the last ten games, but at home, he has 24 points in 34 games. It’s not amazing, but it’s ten more than his total on the road. Calgary is coming off a 6-2 loss to the Maple Leafs less than 24 hours ago, so this is a great spot for Lafreniere to get on the scoresheet.
You can’t stop Patrik Laine on the power play, you can only hope that he doesn’t hit the net with his elite shot. He’s been lethal from his office and there’s no reason to believe that trend can’t continue tonight. The Senators and Habs may get into some penalty trouble, and if that’s the case, Laine will get more than enough looks.
Wednesday Salary Cap NHL DFS Picks
Goalie Of The Day: Jake Oettinger - DAL
Jake Oettinger on home ice is the gift that keeps on giving. He has a 20-6-1 record and has a matchup against the Anaheim Ducks. His price tag is expensive, but you know exactly what you’re getting with him. In cash games, he’s the best option and it’s not even close.
Honorable Mention: Sam Montembeault - MTL
Sam Montembeault has been elite in his last ten games, posting a 7-2-1 record with a goals against of 2.25. His numbers at home are also very respectable, so even if this is a tough matchup against Ottawa, he’s going to see a lot of shots and potential value is elevated. He would be my top goalie option in a GPP.
Player Of The Day: Filip Forsberg - NSH
There are a handful of elite players with very good matchups, but Filip Forsberg is my favourtie. He gets to face Joel Hofer, who isn’t very good at stopping pucks, on home ice, where he has 41 points in 32 games. His splits are pretty extreme, so if you’re going to pay up for a forward, Forsberg should be close to the top of your list.
Honorable Mention: Sidney Crosby - PIT
I have no problem with targeting players like Connor McDavid or Leon Draisaitl tonight, but if you’re trying to find upside with low ownership, Sidney Crosby is a great option. He has 46 points in 35 home games and faces an Islanders team with a terrible power play. The matchup may not be the best, but Corsby’s ability to rack up points at home can’t be ignored.
Value Play Of The Day: Spencer Knight - CHI
I know I mentioned Montembeault earlier in the Playbook, but we need to talk about Spencer Knight. The Chicago Blackhawks are not a very good hockey team, but they are less terrible on home ice. Spencer Knight gives this team some stability in the blue paint and he’s a good goalie. Seattle is a terrible offence and yet, Knight is just $7000 on DK. Again, I get that it’s the Blackhawks, but his price tag is too low.
Honorable Mention: Mason Marchment - DAL
If you’re trying to get exposure to Dallas without breaking the bank, Mason Marchment is the route to take. He is skating on the second line and second power play unit and is under $5K on DK. He’s seeing a decent amount of minutes and can find ways to get on the score sheet.
Stack Of The Day - WSH PP1 (Alex Ovechkin - Tom Wilson - Jakub Chychrun)
The Detroit Red Wings are the only team with a penalty kill below 70% this season (69%, nice). Washington doesn’t have a great power play, but they have Alex Ovechkin and he’s going to get every chance in the world to be out there and chase greatness. Wilson and Chychrun help you complete the stack, but if you just want to use Ovi as a single-bullet, you can.
