"I want to play in the top six, eventually," Lafreniere said on Monday. "I think that's my goal." He also stated that he will work on his skating during the offseason. Lafreniere had 19 goals and 31 points in 79 games during the 2021-22 campaign after he had 21 points in 56 matches during his rookie year. He understands that Chris Kreider and Artemi Panarin are ahead of him on the left-side of the Rangers' depth chart, which has made him open to playing as a right winger. 

Coach Gerard Gallant tried moving things around but he went back to his old line assignments early in the second period. Lafreniere ends the playoffs with two goals and nine points in 20 games. While Lafreniere has been a fantasy disappointment in his first two seasons in the NHL, the former first overall pick from 2020 should still be selected late in most fantasy pools next season.

Lafreniere had the secondary helper on a pair of second-period goals by Filip Chytil in the match. He has two goals and nine points in 15 games this postseason, including four assists during a three-game point streak. 

Lafreniere is seeing time with Filip Chytil and Kaapo Kakko on the third line and the unit came up big in Game 6 as Chytil had a pair of goals. Lafreniere has two goals and six points in 13 games thus far with Game 7 in Carolina on Monday.
