The Penguins dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to the Rangers, eliminating themselves from the playoffs. Crosby missed Game 6 with an upper-body injury but was back in action Sunday, playing 19:54 to lead all Pittsburgh forwards. It was a sad way to end the season for the Penguins who led 3-1 in the series after Game 4 before dropping the last three games.

Crosby was back between Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel during the pregame warmups. There were reports prior to the contest that he didn't sustain a concussion in Game 5. Crosby was back on the ice on Saturday and he will play in the winner-take-all contest after he sat out Friday's match. Crosby has two goals, nine points and 18 shots in five matches this postseason. 

Crosby was not on the ice for Pittsburgh's optional morning skate after he participated in Saturday's session. Coach Mike Sullivan declined to say Sunday if Crosby had been cleared to play. There has been some speculation that the Penguins captain could be an option for Sunday's contest, but we will have to wait for the pregame warmups to see if he is able to play. 

Crosby was able to take part in Saturday's optional practice, but coach Mike Sullivan didn't want to speculate if the Penguins captain would be ready to play on Sunday in Game 7 versus the New York Rangers. "We'll take each day as it comes. I'm not going to speculate at this point. They're obviously on the ice, that's encouraging," said Sullivan referring to Crosby, Tristan Jarry and Rickard Rakell. They're making progress."
