NHL DFS Picks, Projections, Lineups & Stacks Today: Tuesday Playbook

Published: Nov 19, 2024
Welcome back for another NHL Playbook! We have a perfect seven-game slate that includes Tristian Jarry. It won’t be hard to stack against him, but we also need to look around the league and see what value we can find.
Goalies will be very important on this slate. Picking the correct one can almost lock you in a position to cash. Let’s dive into the action and see which players we must target.
NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, November 19th
Before we get into DFS, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper Fantasy.
There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option.
NHL DFS Pick'em Picks On Sleeper Fantasy
- Kirill Kaprizov O/0.5 A
- Connor McDavid O/1.5 PTS
- Jake Guentzle O/2.5 SOG
Kirill Kaprizov is a beast on the road. He has 21 points in 10 games away from home this season and he has a wonderful matchup against St. Louis. I think he racks up multiple points tonight, but all we are looking for is an assist.
Connor McDavid and the Oilers are playing their second game in as many nights and are coming off a 3-0 loss to the Canadiens. You know that isn’t going to sit well with McJesus, so I expect him to bounce back and fill the net.
Jake Guentzle is facing his former team, so you know this one is extra special. Tampa Bay is going to get a lot of good looks because the Penguins just can’t defend. I like Guentzle here to hit the over and can see him going as high as five shots.
NHL DFS Lineup Picks Today, 11/19
Goalie Of The Day: Filip Gustavsson - MIN
There is no question that Filip Gustavsson is the best goalie option on the slate. The Blues are just so bad offensively and they don’t generate enough scoring chances. It’s going to be a challenge for Gustavsson to hit value if he’s not going to see a ton of action, but he is a great cash-game option.
Play Of The Day: Nikita Kucherov - TBL
There is no shortage of elite players to choose from tonight, but if you’re going with just one, I like Nikita Kucherov. He can score goals, rack up assists and he gets to face Tristan Jarry, who can’t stop anything this season. The Penguins also give up a healthy amount of scoring chances, so I’m all in on Kucherov and the Lightning.
Value Play Of The Day: Jason Dickinson - CHI
We are going for super value today with Jason Dickinson. He isn’t seeing any power play time, but he is skating on the top line with Connor Bedard and that isn’t a bad thing. Dickinson played 17 minutes last game against Vancouver, so if he sees just as much tonight against Anaheim, good things might happen. For $2500 on DraftKings, I’ll take my chances.
Stack Of The Day - OTT PP1 (Brady Tkachuk - Josh Norris - Jake Sanderson)
The Oilers have one of the worst penalty kills in the league and they are playing their second game in as many nights. Ottawa is ranked 6th on the power play, so this could be a very sneaky stack to exploit. It also won’t cost you an arm and a leg, so if you’re playing multiple lineups, give OTT PP1 a chance.

Player News
Dolphins signed No. 13 overall pick DT Kenneth Grant to a four-year contract.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Grant will sign his contract today. The former Michigan defensive tackle is expected to fill a major void left by Christian Wilkins, who left for the Raiders in the 2024 offseason. Grant totaled 32 tackles, three sacks, and seven TFLs in his final season at Michigan and excelled at stopping the run while also generating 27 pressures in his final season, per PFF.
Daulton Varsho picked up three hits, three RBI and a homer in a win over the Angels on Thursday.
Varsho has only played in seven games this year, but they’ve been seven good ones. He’s homered three times already, and his slugging percentage is a remarkable — and entirely unsustainable — .727 over 22 at-bats. Varsho has been a mediocre offensive player in his two seasons with the Blue Jays, but it’s possible at the age of 28 he’s having a breakout campaign. Far from a guarantee, but possible.
Taylor Ward hit a two-run homer in a loss to the Blue Jays on Thursday.
Ward, 31, gave the Angels a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer off Chris Bassitt in the first inning. He’s now gone deep in two of his last three games, and it ‘improves’ his slash to .181/.224/.391. Ward has been one of the most hot/cold players players in the sport over the last few years, so fantasy managers who can afford to make some roster moves may want to look at Ward while the going is good.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. picked up three hits and scored twice in an 8-5 win over the Angels on Thursday.
Guerrero also drew a walk. It gives the first baseman multiple hits in back-to-back games, and it’s the third time in May that he’s reached that mark. That’s helped raise his average from .268 to .295, and the only thing fantasy managers can be disappointed with is his .432 slugging percentage. That number should continue to climb as the season unfolds, but Vladdy Jr. has had some inconsistent seasons when it comes to power production.
Chad Green picked up his first save of 2025 with a scoreless ninth against the Angels on Thursday.
Green got the save after Jeff Hoffman worked in back-to-back games — and struggled — in the first two contests against the Angels. He struck out two and looked the part while needing just nine pitches to get through the inning. Hoffman should remain the closer, but Green is on his tail if the struggles were to continue.
Chris Bassitt allowed five runs — four earned — while working six-plus innings against the Angels on Thursday while picking up a win.
Bassitt allowed three runs over the first two innings on a pair of homers, but settled down over his next four frames. He came out to work the seventh, but ended up being charged for two more runs after leaving the contest. The 36-year-old veteran has forged a 3.35 ERA and outstanding 49/8 K/BB ratio over the first quarter of the season, but this wasn’t him at his best. He’ll get the Rays next week if the rotation order stays the same for Toronto.
