NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, March 3rd

It should be noted that there is a slight difference between the DraftKings and FanDuel slates for NHL DFS picks today.

DraftKings has opted not to include the 6:30 pm Ottawa Senators vs. Washington Capitals games, so NHL DFS projections for that matchup are not included.

NHL DFS Pick'em Picks on Underdog With Promo Code ALARM

The Florida Panthers are going to be without Matthew Tkachuk for the foreseeable future and need someone to step up and bring some juice on offense. Let's turn to Sam Reinhart, who has hit over 2.5 shots on goal in 6 of his last 10 games. Since the start of February, the Panthers have generated 68.69 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-best in the league.

Bo Horvat and the New York Islanders should be in for some offense tonight against their cross-town rivals, the New York Rangers. We have seen 6 goals or more in 8 of the last 10 meetings between these two teams and that should only continue tonight.

Since the start of February, the Rangers have allowed 64.18 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the eighth-worst in the league. Horvat comes in with at least two shots on goal in 8 of his last 9 games and is primed to hit the over tonight.

Warren Foegele and the Los Angeles Kings are on a three-game losing streak and need to right the ship tonight versus the Chicago Blackhawks

Monday Salary Cap DFS Picks

Goalie Of The Day: Andrei Vasilevskiy - TBL

Andrei Vasilevskiy has been unbelievable in recent outings and is far too cheap tonight. In the four games since the 4 Nations break, Vasy has allowed a total of three goals, posting 16 DK points and 24 FD points or more in all four games.

At face value, the matchup doesn't look ideal versus the Florida Panthers, but Vasy and the Tampa defense is downright elite right now and his salary doesn't reflect the level of production we are getting from him.

Play Of The Day: Auston Matthews - TOR

The Toronto Maple Leafs are coming off a thrilling 6-5 win over the Pittsburgh Penguins and are now set to face the lowly San Jose Sharks. This gives the Leafs a whopping 4.4 implied goal total which leads the slate.

Since the start of February, the Leafs are scoring 3.37 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fifth-best in the league. Of course, Matthews has played a big part in that offense but it's mainly from assists. He comes in with 2 goals, 11 assists, and 44 shots on goal over his last 10 games.

The goals are a bit lower than we would expect from the multi-time Rocket Richard winner, but this is an awesome matchup for him to get the goals flowing again.

Value Play Of The Day: Brennan Othmann - NYR

With the trade deadline at the end of the week, many teams are resting some of their usual starters, which opens up new roles for younger players. The Rangers are one of those teams resting Reilly Smith, which opens the door for Brennan Othmann

He's skating on the third forward line and the second power-play unit, which is a darn solid role for a player at only $3K on DraftKings. The matchup against the Islanders is surprisingly a good one, as they've allowed 3.47 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations since the start of February, which is the third-worst in the league.

Stack Of The Day: LAK L1/PP1 (Adrian Kempe, Kevin Fiala, Quinton Byfield, Drew Doughty)

The Los Angeles Kings have a strong 3.5 implied goal total against the Chicago Blackhawks, putting them in a spot for plenty of offense. I also love the fact they are on a three-game losing streak and will look at this as a chance to right the ship and stave off any signs of desperation prior to the trade deadline.

Just to be clear, I think the Maple Leafs top line or top power-play unit is an elite option tonight with their 4.4 implied goal total. However, that top combo is very expensive and it can strain roster construction on a smaller slate. A stack from the Kings is just a bit less expensive, which is always helpful when trying to build lineups.

The top line of Fiala, Byfield, and Kempe are a strong trio with Fiala and Kempe also being on the top power-play unit together. Mix in Drew Doughty since he isn't too expensive and brings multi-category scoring.
