NHL DFS Playbook April 27th
DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts
Make sure you don't overlook our impressive selection of 3 games, showcasing top-notch players in advantageous matchups. While you can't resist the likes of Auston Matthews and Nikita Kucherov, there are also incredible value options worth considering.
Goalies play a vital role in determining our lineups, so make your choices wisely. Whether you decide to go for a high-end goalie or a more affordable one, keep in mind that goalies can be quite unpredictable.
Best Odds for a Win
Ilya Samsonov Vs. Boston Bruins
Sergei Bobrovsky Vs. Tampa Bay Lightning
Logan Thompson Vs. Dallas Stars
Favorite Goalies to Use for DFS Lineups
Andrei Vasilevskiy, G, Tampa Bay Lightning
It’s do-or-die for Tampa Bay and I expect Vezina Andrei Vasilevskiy to show up for this one. He hasn’t been elite in this series and that’s been the problem. Tampa is a very good hockey team on home ice and I expect them to come out and play their best game of the series. Getting Vasilevskiy at $7200 on DraftKings is a bargain.
Jeremy Swayman, G, Boston Bruins
At some point, Jim Montgomery is going to have to commit to letting Jeremy Swayman start every remaining playoff game. He’s been nothing short of excellent in this series and is the main reason why his team leads the series. Linus Ullmark hasn’t been bad, but Swayman has allowed just three goals on 66 shots, so how can you not let him keep rolling? If he starts, he’s in my lineup.
Logan Thompson, G, Vegas Golden Knights
The Golden Knights return home up 2-0 and are looking to take a stranglehold on the series. Logan Thompson hasn’t been elite in this series, but he hasn’t seen a ton of action. Dallas has totalled just 50 shots on goal in two games, which just doesn’t cut it at this point of the year. Thompson is going to have a hard time hitting value with that kind of volume, but I do think he has the best chance of any goalie starting to pick up a win.
Ilya Samsonov, G, Toronto Maple Leafs
Of all the things wrong with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Ilya Samsonov has not been one of them. He was a trash can in Game 1 but has since bounced back. Toronto is expected to get William Nylander back for this game, which would be a huge boost to their offence. Boston hasn’t been dominant in this series, they’ve just been able to capitalize on their chances. There’s enough value to trust Samsonov in a GPP and you should get him at low ownership.
Highest Expected Goal Totals
Tampa Bay Lightning Vs Sergei Bobrovsky (3.1)
Toronto Maple Leafs Vs. A Boston Goalie (3.1)
Vegas Golden Knights Vs. Jake Oettinger (2.9)
Favorite Skaters to Use for DFS Lineups
Auston Matthews, C, Toronto Maple Leafs
If you’re going to pay up for an elite skater, you can’t go wrong with Auston Matthews. He’s a shooting machine and can find the back of the net on any given night. He needs a goal and five shots on goal to be able to hit value, which isn’t asking him too much. I know it’s a lot to spend on one player, but we both know he’s worth every dollar.
Jack Eichel, C, Vegas Golden Knights
Jack Eichel has been very good so far this series and I don’t expect that to change tonight. He’s getting a healthy amount of shots on goal and is racking up points. Considering how poor Jake Oettinger has been in this series, look for Eichel to add a few more points to his total before the end of the night.
Nikita Kucherov, W, Tampa Bay Lightning
I love that we are getting Nikita Kucherov at $9100 on DK. That price tag is too low for a player of his calibre. I know he hasn’t scored a goal in this series, but he does have three assists. The shot volume is down, but I think we see Kucherov shoot the puck a lot more in this game. He’s regularly been over 10K during the season, so a discount this big is too good to pass up.
Matthew Tkachuk, W, Florida Panthers
Matthew Tkachuk is built for moments like this. He has three goals and two assists in this series and is shooting the puck a ton. Despite those numbers, his price tag hasn’t moved. You know he just loves showing up for big moments and I expect nothing less from him in this one.
Charlie McAvoy, D, Boston Bruins
We are going full bargain on the blue line tonight. There are so many players blocking shots, so we have a ton of options to choose from. Charlie McAvoy has seven blocked shots in the last two games but also has six shots on goal. He finished with five last game, hitting the double bonus. We need a defenceman with a high floor and McAvoy is one of the best options on this slate.
Alec Martinez, D, Vegas Golden Knights
If you’re a regular here you know exactly how I feel about Alec Martinez. He is the king when it comes to blocking shots and I expect no different tonight. He was as high as $5100 during the regular season, so to get him for $3800 feels like robbery. He played just 15 minutes last game, so that is concerning, but even in the limited ice time, he blocked four shots. I have no issue with him being in all my lineups.

Player News
Orioles manager Brandon Hyde told reporters that Zach Eflin (lat) is likely to return and start Sunday against the Angels
It was assumed that Eflin would be back this weekend, but now we have a concrete date. The 31-year-old may not be at full strength after throwing fewer than 60 pitches in his rehab start, but the Orioles feel confident enough to have the right-hander back on the bump for the series finale against the Angels.
Riley Greene is not in the lineup for the first game of a doubleheader against the Rockies on Thursday.
Greene will get a break and likely return to the lineup for the second game of the twin-billing. Zach McKinstry will get the start in left field while Greene rests.
Panthers released TE Jordan Matthews.
Matthews converted to tight end a few years ago and hasn’t made much noise at the position. The change has, however, likely kept him in the league for a few more seasons. He appeared in four games with the Panthers last year but didn’t record any stats on offense. The Panthers also released or waived WR Dax Milne, C Andrew Raym, and TE Colin Granger.
Yu Darvish (elbow) is facing live hitters on Thursday.
Darvish has been throwing bullpen sessions and traveled to the team’s complex in Arizona to face live hitters on Thursday. It will be his first time facing live batters since a spring training appearance on March 13th. He will likely need a few sessions like this before the Padres can map out a rehab appearance timeline for him.
Adael Amador is starting at second base and batting ninth for the Rockies on Thursday.
Amador has now started three of the last four games at second base for the Rockies. He’s gone just 7-for-43 this season with 15 strikeouts in 16 games. He’s just 22 years old, so there is plenty of time for him to adjust to the MLB level, but he doesn’t need to be on redraft radars right now.
Jackson Holliday is playing second base and batting second for the Orioles on Thursday against the Twins.
With Cedric Mullins sitting out on Thursday, Gunnar Henderson will bat lead off, and Holliday will jump up from sixth in the order to second. Holliday is riding a hot streak right now, and the Orioles are taking advantage. This is likely just a one-game sample with no Mullins or Adley Rutschman in the lineup, but Rutschman has been struggling, so perhaps it could become a more permanent spot in the lineup for Holliday moving forward.
