Falcons vs. Buccaneers Predictions For NFL Week 8, Sunday 10/27
The reason that the winner of this NFC South rivalry will take sole possession of the top spot is due to the fact that they’re both coming off losses, and they both also came at home. Outside of Thursday Night Football last night, the Bucs were the one of the most recent storylines.
Unfortunately for Tampa, it was virtually all on the negative side of the coin. They allowed the Baltimore Ravens to continue being discussed as arguably the best team in the NFL after giving up 41 points, and one of the best WR duos going down with injury in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Of course, we’ll discuss more as we advance through our Falcons vs. Buccaneers predictions, but first, more on Atlanta.
Atlanta Falcons: Remembering Thursday Night Football
It wasn’t the most recent Thursday Night Football game, but it was only earlier this month that fans were all kinds of hype of QB Kirk Cousins, and rightfully so. He torched the Bucs secondary to the tune of a whopping 509 passing yards and four touchdown passes!
As you’d imagine, that led to a Falcons victory, but it certainly wasn’t easy. In fact, it took overtime to squeak out the 36-30 victory. So, they need to remember what led them to that divisional win while also focusing on what they struggled with, as they also allowed Tampa QB Baker Mayfield to throw for three touchdown passes himself.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Next Man Up
It’s going to be difficult to repeat that performance given that Godwin was the leading receiver in that game. Of the duo we noted above, he is the one that we know for a fact will be out for this game, and the foreseeable future.
He’s already had surgery for his dislocated ankle, and with Evans’ hamstring injury having nagged him for more than just this past week, it’s going to be just as difficult to buy into the “next man up” coach speak that we often hear. Either way, divisional rivalries always find a way to keep things interesting and close.

Falcons vs. Buccaneers Predictions: Over 45.5 Points (-118 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
The best bet from our Falcons vs. Buccaneers predictions may come as a surprise given what we’ve been discussing in terms of Tampa’s injuries, and while Mayfield indeed found the endzone through the air the last time these teams met, they didn’t exactly light up the Falcons secondary.
Similarly, while we also mentioned that Godwin was the leading receiver, that was just with 64 yards. All that to say that we trust Tampa’s new-found running game to be enough to help us get over the total. After all, that is where the Atlanta defense can be had. While they are among the best in terms of passing yards allowed, they’re among the bottom ten on the ground.
With 137 rushing yards allowed per game, the one-two punch of Bucky Irving and Rachaad White could be on full display. We just saw the Seattle Seahawks and RB Kenneth Walker run wild over the Falcons, scoring 34 points in the process.
There’s no secret as to what we expect from Atlanta’s offense - throwing and more throwing. Kirk has already lit up their secondary, and the last time we saw Tampa, they allowed five touchdown passes to Ravens QB Lamar Jackson.
With both teams having ways to move the ball effectively, we’re making the best bet from our Falcons vs. Buccaneers predictions on the over 45.5 points (-118 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
