Cowboys vs. Panthers Predictions For NFL Week 15, Sunday 12/15
Until the Week 15 slate kicked off with Thursday Night Football, the Cowboys had suffered the most recent loss when they went down to the Cincinnati Bengals with a minute to go on Monday Night Football. That loss helped solidify something that we haven’t seen in quite some time.
The Panthers haven’t been favored in almost exactly two calendar years (12/18/2022), but that’s the spot they find themselves in this Sunday. The Cowboys vs. Panthers odds have them as clear favorites as well - nearly by a field goal! That makes this a heck of an interesting game to handicap, but there is one thing that we feel confident about predicting.
Both teams have been exceptionally poor against the run this season, which means that whichever side can exploit that most will likely come out on top.
Dallas Cowboys: Moving On From McCarthy?
Far before their recent Monday Night Football loss, there were already plenty of discussions about moving on from head coach Mike McCarthy in Dallas. Truthfully, they began even before this season kicked off, but as far as owner Jerry Jones is concerned, he’s acting as though that won’t be the case.
There was plenty to argue in favor of McCarthy with three straight 12-win seasons, but that is far from the case this season. The playoffs aren’t completely off the table from a mathematical standpoint, they certainly aren’t expected for Dallas. Perhaps this offseason, Jerry Jones will make good on his “all in” philosophy.
Carolina Panthers: Proving To Be Pests
Despite sitting at 3-10 and having zero playoff expectations since early on in the season, Carolina has continued to bother the opposition. Whether that’s due to teams overlooking their matchups with them or their players playing for jobs, the fact remains that they are keeping things close and down to the wire.
Their past five games have included back-to-back wins, a last second field goal away from upsetting the Kansas City Chiefs, an overtime loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and a dropped pass away from upsetting the Philadelphia Eagles. Now, the question is whether or not they’ve emptied the gas tank or still have motivation left.
Cowboys vs. Panthers Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
With such a significant storyline thanks to Carolina finally being favorites for the first time in two years, we’ve got the latest Cowboys vs. Panthers odds at BetMGM Sportsbook for you here:
- Point Spread: Dallas Cowboys +2.5 (-110) vs. Carolina Panthers -2.5 (-110)
- Money Line: Dallas Cowboys (+115) vs. Carolina Panthers (-135)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 43 (-110) vs. Under 43 (-110)
Cowboys vs. Panthers Best Bet: Chuba Hubbard Over 19.5 Carries (-115 at BetMGM Sportsbook)
We mentioned that our overall Cowboys vs. Panthers predictions are that the team that can take advantage of the ground game will likely have the best chance of winning, so we’re going to lean into that.
After all, these teams have both been terrible against the spread, so we’d rather not sweat out a pick on a winner. If you still want to stick with the standard markets for your Cowboys vs. Panthers predictions, then we’d suggest taking the over 43 points, as Dallas is 8-5 for overs this season, while Carolina is 9-4.
Regardless, we expect Panthers RB Chuba Hubbard to play a role in there being plenty of points in this matchup. Dallas was just torn up through the air on Monday Night Football, but Carolina does not have the likes of Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow under center. Instead, they lean on Hubbard to carry them.
We’d love to take his anytime touchdown scorer prop, but with Dallas having allowed 21 rushing TDs this season (the most in the NFL), the price is simply too inflated. Therefore, we’re simply going to trust the Panthers to feed Hubbard. Not only did they just give him 26 carries last Sunday against the Eagles, an amazing defense, but they also gave him 28 carries against the New York Giants.
Those are two other NFC East teams, just for another trend to look at. Now facing Dallas and their subpar run defense, we’re making the best bet from our Cowboys vs. Panthers predictions on Chuba Hubbard over 19.5 carries (-115 at BetMGM Sportsbook).
Cowboys vs. Panthers Injury Report & Latest News
Now that it’s been some time since Cowboys QB Dak Prescott has been deemed out for the season, the biggest injury news for this matchup is Dallas WR CeeDee Lamb. While he’s been able to suit up, his AC joint injury has reportedly been extremely painful for his shoulder. So, keep track of that and all injury news with the Fantasy Alarm NFL injury report.
