Chargers vs. Browns Predictions For NFL Week 9, Sunday 11/3
We’re certainly not going to act as though this AFC battle is a Super Bowl preview, but based on the latest Chargers vs. Browns odds, it’s set to be one of the closest games of the Week 9 slate. For that reason, the top pick from our Chargers vs. Browns predictions will be focused elsewhere.
We’ll get into our full analysis, but overall, we expect this to be a slow, grind-it-out type of game given the lack of offensive weapons. Cleveland recently traded away star WR Amari Cooper, and LA was depleted this past offseason. Therefore, Browns RB Nick Chubb and the Chargers run defense could be the deciding factor in terms of who comes away with the victory.
Los Angeles Chargers: Staying Alive In The AFC
To be clear, we certainly aren’t counting out LA this Sunday, even with the long road trip and 10 AM “body clock” start. They’re coming off a dominant 26-8 win; however, it came over a New Orleans Saints team starting a rookie QB and had just lost five straight.
So, while that’s why we’re avoiding focusing our Chargers vs. Browns predictions in that regard, LA’s focus of getting to 5-3 will keep them alive in the AFC Wild Card picture. Having the 7-0 Kansas City Chiefs in the division means that is their likely playoff path, but even the 5-3 Denver Broncos pose another hurdle for the Chargers.
Cleveland Browns: Building Upon The Upset
Just about nothing has gone right in Cleveland this season. Well, until this past Sunday. Sitting at 1-6 and having just lost their $230 million guaranteed QB Deshaun Watson with an Achilles rupture (who the fans booed getting carted off the field), hope seemed all but completely lost.
However, upsetting the division rival Baltimore Ravens as nearly double-digit underdogs was absolutely massive for them. Admittedly, a 2-6 record still has their playoff chances quite bleak, but with a positive mindset QB Jameis Winston under center and superstar RB Nick Chubb back in the fold, they can try and go on a run with this momentum.
Chargers vs. Browns Odds, Spreads, Total & Betting Lines
We mentioned that this AFC showdown is set to be among the closest games this Sunday, and you can see that in the latest Chargers vs. Browns odds at Caesars Sportsbook below:

- Money Line: Los Angeles Chargers (-125) vs. Cleveland Browns (+105)
- Game Total (Over/Under): Over 43.5 (-105) vs. Under 43.5 (-115)
Chargers vs. Browns Predictions: Under 43.5 Points (-115 at Caesars Sportsbook)
When we were looking ahead to the Week 9 slate, when we saw this matchup, we immediately knew that we’d be keeping an eye on the total when Chargers vs. Browns odds were released. We fully expected it to be in the 30’s, so we are thrilled with the best bet from our Chargers vs. Browns predictions, as it’s among our best bets for the entire slate.
While we may have just seen the Chargers score 26 this past Sunday, their offense is still a shell of what it was when they had RB Austin Ekeler and the WR duo of Keenan Allen and Mike Williams. That’s why we’ve seen them struggle to score when facing real defenses like the Chiefs and Pittsburgh Steelers (10 points in each game).
Their season average would be close to that number if not for games against the Las Vegas Raiders, Carolina Panthers and aforementioned Saints. Even still, they’ve never scored more than 26 even with those weak opponents.
Similarly, Cleveland was able to exploit an uncharacteristically bad Ravens defense last week, but that was a rarity in terms of their scoring this season as well. In fact, the Browns hadn’t scored more than 18 points all season until this past Sunday. So, even with that performance, they are still averaging just 17.3 points per game.
Defensively, the numbers speak for themselves as well. We mentioned that LA’s offense is no longer what it once was, so they have to rely on defense to win games. They’ve done exactly that, as their 13 points allowed per game are the absolute fewest in the NFL.
All of the above adds up to us loving the best bet from our Chargers vs. Browns predictions on the under 43.5 points (-110 at Caesars Sportsbook).
