Bills vs. Texans Predictions, Picks & Odds: NFL Week 5, Sunday 10/6
Entering the season, two of the teams with some of the shortest odds to win the AFC were the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans. They’ve largely looked the part as they both sit atop their divisions at 3-1, and now, we get to enjoy watching them face off in the 1 PM ET window on Sunday afternoon.
Therefore, we've shared our best Bills vs. Texans predictions, and better yet, we also have a huge $1,000 Caesars Sportsbook sign up bonus to share with you!
Bills vs. Texans Predictions For NFL Week 5, Sunday 10/6
It may still sound strange that Houston was among the AFC favorites, but after how much they exceeded expectations last year, they are very much on the map. Of course, they still paled in comparison to Buffalo - at least through the first three weeks.
Most recently, however, the Bills were blasted by the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football. Specifically, it was RB Derrick Henry that ran all over them. So, do the Texans have that ability? Well, let’s further discuss each team so that we can adequately answer that with the best bet from our Bills vs. Texans predictions!
Buffalo Bills: Bouncing Back From SNF
Buffalo truly did look like Super Bowl favorites through the first three weeks until that aforementioned SNF beatdown. Just before that loss, they were also on Monday Night Football, which was an incredibly dominant 47-10 victory.
They scored five touchdowns on all five first-half drives in that game, and they were by five different players! In other words, they’re offense is firing on all cylinders, and even their defense has been far more average than expected despite losing their entire secondary this offseason. So, they have plenty to focus on to help them bounce back and continue controlling the AFC East.
Houston Texans: Proving Themselves A True Contender
It’s the AFC South that the Texans are trying to get an even firmer grasp on as they try and prove doubters wrong. There are still plenty of fans who aren’t completely sold on last season’s success given their start to this year.
Their wins have been far from perfect, but at the end of the day, they’re still 3-1. Those that aren’t bought in saw Houston need a comeback 29-27 win in Week 1, an uninspiring 19-13 win over the Chicago Bears and their loss coming in blowout fashion in a 34-7 defeat to the Minnesota Vikings.
So, the Texans still have work to do to prove themselves a true contender, but a win over a 3-1 Bills team would go a long way in doing so.

Bills vs. Texans Predictions: Over 47 Points (-110 at Caesars Sportsbook)
With a tight one-point spread, we’re going to turn our attention elsewhere with our Bills vs. Texans predictions. If anything, we see Buffalo bouncing back if you’re so inclined to add that to your Bills vs. Texans picks, but let’s talk about a high-scoring game.
First and foremost, we’ve seen Buffalo hit this total themselves as recently as two weeks ago. In fact, until this past Sunday, the Bills had scored 31+ points in each of their first three games. Their offense is truly firing on all cylinders, as QB Josh Allen is an MVP favorite, and that’s without former Buffalo WR Stefon Diggs.
That brings us to the next portion of this matchup, as it is a Diggs revenge game! The Maryland product left Buffalo this offseason to join second-year QB C.J. Stroud, and they have meshed quite well. Diggs is already a star, and we expect him to come out on fire against a Bills secondary that lost both safeties and a star CB this summer.
So, while Houston RB Joe Mixon is still banged up, we’re confident that the Texans can still do their part on the scoreboard through the air. Along with seeing Houston give up 27 points to the Colts already this year, we’re confident making the best bet from our Bills vs. Texans predictions on the over 47 points (-110 at Caesars Sportsbook).
