Now that you’re well-armed with goodies for the game, it’s time for us to build a winning wager. For a full, high-level game preview – including injuries, odds and latest lines – check out our full Packers vs. Eagles Predictions piece. Here, we’ll dig directly into each of the picks that will form our same game parlay.

Jalen Hurts under 40.5 rushing yards (-110) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Two stats to know from the 2023-24 season:

  • Jalen Hurts rushed for fewer than 40.5 yards in 13 out of 16 regular season games.
  • The Packers tied for 29th in rushing yards allowed by opposing quarterbacks (419).

I’m weighing the first stat significantly heavier than the second - enough so to lock in Hurts under 40.5 rushing yards as my first leg in tonight’s SGP.

New Eagles Offensive Coordinator Kellen Moore has gained a reputation for building his schemes around the specific players on his squad, playing to their strengths and distributing the ball to every playmaker at his disposal.

The return of TE Dallas Goedert and WRs A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith means there will be no shortage of pass-catchers to spread the ball around to. RB Saquon Barkley wasn’t acquired to sit on the sideline, so a sizable rushing workload seems like a sure thing. Moore also has an aversion to running his offenses out of the shotgun, meaning there’ll be fewer designed QB runs or options called than what we saw with the Brian Johnson-led Eagles offense in 2023.

All said, I simply don’t see Hurts running the ball much outside of scrambles. And when he scrambles, I don’t see him having much success.

On the other side of the ball, new Packers Defensive Coordinator Jeff Hafley presents a bit of a wild card for Philadelphia’s planning purposes. He’s known to prioritize aggressiveness and is not afraid to load up his defensive fronts.

He also has already gone on the record stating the importance of stuffing QB runs. In a recent interview, Hafley told USA Today:

“You’ve just got to stop the quarterback run game. When I talk to my friends in the NFL and we talk defense together, it’s almost a different game. The quarterback in the NFL they’re going to run it in big moments or in the red zone or on third down or in a championship game, right? But you can’t do that week in and week out. You’ve got to account for an extra guy. So you’ve got to change.”

Have fun, Hurts.

Rashan Gary to record a sack (+136) at FanDuel Sportsbook

My analysis above was long-winded because it ties into this second SGP leg, too.

Last season was Gary’s first full year back after tearing his ACL. He led the Packers with 9.0 sacks and 22 quarterback hits – all while playing only 53% of the team’s defensive snaps.

Harkening back to my Hafley analysis above, Green Bay’s new 4-3 defensive scheme will play to the strengths of linemen like Gary. He should have a big season, and I’m betting that it begins tonight in Brazil.

Josh Jacobs 50+ rushing yards (-210) at FanDuel Sportsbook

Alternate lines often lead to traps, but I like this one for a myriad of reasons.

First, we simply need three legs in this SGP to be able to use our Same Game Parlay Token. While that offers some protection against a loss, the goal here is to win some money. Safe plays absolutely have a place in sports betting, and this is one of them.

Second, volume. Jacobs is arguably the only healthy NFL-caliber running back on this Packers roster. AJ Dillon is out for the year with a stinger, and rookie MarShawn Lloyd has been limited by a nagging hamstring injury. There’s simply not anyone behind Jacobs to absorb any of this extra workload.

Let’s not forget that Jacobs, when healthy, also is a very, very good running back. There will be many matchups this season where he’ll feast. The Eagles have a formidable defensive front, so  I don’t expect tonight to be one of those feasts. I do, however, expect sheer volume to comfortably vault the 26-year-old over 50+ yards rushing.

As added consolation, the Packers have nine days off before their next game. There will be ample time for Jacobs to ice every bone in his body and be ready for Week 2. Saddle up, workhorse.

There's also extremely strong correlation between these specific legs. To grossly oversimplify it, if Hurts isn't running loose, he'll likely be taking a sack or two over the course of the game. Pair your prediction of a solid defensive showing with a running back's player prop, and you're able to see your path to your Same Game Parlay hitting.

Lastly, Fantasy Alarm’s very own NFL Player Projections peg Jacobs for 62 rushing yards tonight. The aforementioned Lloyd is questionable tonight, but our projections were created with the expectation that he plays. If he sits, there’s a projected 6 additional carries and 30 additional yards to be gained by Jacobs. Either way, I’ll swallow the vig to lock in this alt line as opposed to his prop, which currently sits at 61.5 yards (-110).

Final Same Game Parlay: Three Legs, +565 Odds At FanDuel Sportsbook

To recap, we’ll be playing the following picks using our Same Game Parlay Token at FanDuel this fine Friday evening:

  1. Jalen Hurts under 40.5 rushing yards (-110)
  2. Rashan Gary to record a sack (+136)
  3. Josh Jacobs 50+ rushing yards (-210)

If it weren’t for the SGP Insurance, I’d be placing these as individual wagers. With that in mind, if you want to get weird, you can also consider the following props that I also will put some money on this evening:

  • A.J. Brown over 70.5 receiving yards (-110) - It’s a tough matchup, but his talent and athleticism will win the day. (I resisted the urge to say he's “matchup-proof.”)
  • Jalen Hurts to throw an interception: Yes (+102) - a Week 1 game at a neutral site on a completely different continent doesn’t bode well for a strong start out of the gates. To boot, Hurts threw the third-most interceptions in the NFL last season (15) and at least one in 11 of 16 games.

Is this game going to be bananas or boring in Brazil tonight? I sure hope it's the former.
