Packers EDGE Rashan Gary (shoulder) is questionable for Week 11 against the Chargers.
Gary was added to the injury report on Friday because of a new shoulder issue. Getting added to the report so late in the week is a bit concerning, though Gary was still listed as limited in practice. It’s unclear how bad the injury is for the pass-rush specialist. He has 4.5 sacks and five TFLs in nine games this year.
Packers signed LB Rashan Gary to a four-year, $107 million contract extension
The Packers’ pass rusher took to social media to announce his new contract extension early Monday morning. Gary entered 2023 in the final year of his rookie contract, but will now be under contract with the Packers through 2027. A former No. 12 overall pick from the 2019 NFL Draft, Gary has totaled 150 tackles and 27 career sacks through 63 career games. The EDGE rusher suffered a torn ACL late last season, but returned in time for Week 1 and has managed 4.5 sacks through his first seven games, putting him on pace for a career-high 11 sacks. Set to turn 26 in December, Gary will have another chance at a lucrative extension before his age-30 season if he continues to play at a high level.
Packers HC Matt LaFleur said EDGE Rashan Gary will be on a “pitch count” to start the season.
Gary was activated from the PUP list in early August and is returning from a torn ACL suffered last November. The team appears to be pleased with Gary’s rehab, and it sounds like he’ll play in Week 1 against the Bears, but we wouldn’t expect too much from the fourth-year vet early on.
Packers activated EDGE Rashan Gary (knee) from the PUP list.
Gary was placed on the PUP list to open training camp. The veteran pass rusher is heading into his fifth year with the team and is coming back from a torn ACL suffered in Week 9 against the Lions. The team reportedly plans to ease Gary back into things, but it’s possible he’ll be ready to go by Week 1 if his recovery continues to go well.
