Are you ready for some Thursday Night Football? NFL Week 4 is officially here with a fierce NFC North battle as Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions travel to the great state of Wisconsin to face Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers. Even better is that the NFL Injury Report looks a little lighter as we expect to see David Montgomery, Aaron Jones and even Christian Watson back on the field. There are a few other injuries we need to monitor such as Jaire Alexander, but overall, it’s wheels-up for some outstanding football tonight. Now we just have to decide where we’re putting our action. I always love my NFL bets for the full game, but I also have a few player props you’re going to want to consider, so let’s get to it.

NFL Thursday Night Football Best Bets: Detroit Lions vs Green Bay Packers

The Spread: Lions -2.5

The money line in this game has the Lions as a slight favorite, but picking against the spread is starting to look more and more like a coin flip. For the series overall, the Lions are 45-42-1 against the spread versus the Packers, but they are 19-24-1 against the spread when playing on the road in Green Bay. Of course, you have to discard some of the leather helmet games and focus on the more recent outcomes which puts the Lions 4-2 ATS in their last six games in Green Bay. One of the keys for me in this one is the lose of De’Vondre Campbell for the Packers. That, coupled with the potential loss of Jaire Alexander is going to keep the middle of the field wide open for both Sam LaPorta and Amon-Ra St. Brown. Not to mention, the power-run game for Detroit is likely back in full-effect. But the Packers have some serious firepower of their own and the return of Watson is going to make this passing attack that much more potent. It’s a tough one to bet for sure, but we’re going to lean on the favorite tonight in a close one. Pick: Lions -2.5

The Total: 45

Detroit’s defense is going to be a major factor here as they have been strong against the run, but rank 19th in DVOA against the pass. With Green Bay’s receiving weapons, which also include tight end Luke Musgrave, the Packers passing attack should be in strong form. The Lions, however, have plenty of firepower of their own as well. Most people like to go with the under in Thursday Night games, but I think both offenses are good enough and both defenses can be just bad enough to give us a little more action than we normally see on a Thursday. The over is 5-4 in the last nine, so we’ll go against the grain and take that slight advantage for tonight, especially after seeing this bet down from 46.5. I think Vegas had it right the first time. Pick: Over
