NFL Injury Report 2024 - Fantasy Football Week 6: Aaron Rodgers & More

With only one game left on the NFL week 5 docket, we shift our attention to some NFL injuries for Week 6 that recently took place and that we’re going to have to monitor heading into the next week of the NFL season.
If your team hasn’t endured any fantasy football injuries yet, then consider yourself lucky.
NFL Injury Report For Week 6: Fantasy Football Injuries
With yet another week of NFL injuries, it’s important to stay locked into all the happenings around the league.
Let’s look at the fantasy football injury report in Week 6 for the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Nico Collins, and Aaron Jones.
NFL Week 6 Injury Report: Quarterbacks
Josh Allen Injury Update - Head
There are going to be a LOT of people having to answer for what happened in the Buffalo Bills game. In the video below, Josh Allen very blatantly slams his head on the ground and seemingly has his lights turn off.
Just a few plays later, he was cleared and entered the game after getting some smelling salts on the sideline. I’m not sure anyone is watching the video who thinks Allen wasn’t and isn’t concussed after taking that hit. There’s no way he should’ve re-entered the game.
Anthony Richardson Injury Update - Oblique
Despite being ruled out for the Colts’ Week 5 contest against the Jaguars, Richardson is trending towards being ready for Week 6 per Stephen Holder of ESPN. There has been significant improvement in his oblique.
Aaron Rodgers Injury Update - Ankle
The three interceptions weren’t enough; to add injury to insult, Aaron Rodgers is dealing with a low-ankle sprain. Head coach Robert Salah said everything looks good for their Week 6 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. Rodgers has an extra day to heal considering they play on Monday.
NFL Week 6 Injury Report: Running Backs
De'Von Achane Injury Update - Head
De'Von Achane was unable to return to action after having his head slammed on the ground in their Week 5 win against the Patriots. He was ruled out with a concussion and will likely be placed in concussion protocol. Achane and Miami are lucky considering the team has a Week 6 bye week.
Aaron Jones Injury Update - Hip
Aaron Jones injured his hip and was ruled out very soon afterwards and now it’s been reported he’s getting an MRI on it today. We’ll see if there is any sort of absence coming out of the bye week, but the Vikings have a Week 6 bye.
Joe Mixon Injury Update - Ankle
We touched on this on Friday’s injury report, but what has happened with Joe Mixon? He practiced on the Friday before their Week 4 game and ultimately sat the game out. He then missed practice all of last week and didn’t play in the game either.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans spoke with the media on Monday and said Mixon is still being evaluated, but he’s improving week-to-week. Was there a setback they haven’t told us about? Definitely a strange situation that we’ll have to monitor throughout the week.
NFL Week 6 Injury Report: Wide Receivers
Nico Collins Injury Update - Hamstring
Nico Collins caught a 60-yard touchdown pass from C.J. Stroud in Week 5, but you could see in the video exactly when there was some sort of tweak. He was downgraded from questionable to out rather quickly, and head coach Demeco Ryans has listed Collins week-to-week, which means he’ll likely miss some time.
Cooper Kupp Injury Update - Ankle
With a Week 6 bye on tap for the Los Angeles Rams, Cooper Kupp is expected to return to action in Week 7 per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. He’s recovering from a high-ankle sprain.
A.J. Brown Injury Update - Hamstring
Per James Palmer of Underdog Fantasy, A.J. Brown is expected to return from his hamstring strain in Week 6 against the Browns.
DeVonta Smith Injury Update - Concussion
Per James Palmer of Underdog Fantasy, Devonta Smith is expected to return from his concussion in Week 6 against the Browns.
Xavier Legette Injury Update - Shoulder
Xavier Legette was forced from the Panthers Week 5 loss with a shoulder injury and is considered day-to-day. He is, however, getting imaging on his shoulder to make sure everything is good.
NFL Week 6 Injury Report: Tight Ends
Evan Engram Injury Update - Hamstring
It looks like Evan Engram is going to return to action in Week 6 per head coach, Doug Pederson. ESPN’s Adam Schefter included this quote from Pederson “I think the chances of him getting back in here this week are pretty good”.
Player News
Dolphins signed No. 13 overall pick DT Kenneth Grant to a four-year contract.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Grant will sign his contract today. The former Michigan defensive tackle is expected to fill a major void left by Christian Wilkins, who left for the Raiders in the 2024 offseason. Grant totaled 32 tackles, three sacks, and seven TFLs in his final season at Michigan and excelled at stopping the run while also generating 27 pressures in his final season, per PFF.
Beat reporter John Hendrix reports that free agent WR Donovan Peoples-Jones is among the 16 players that the Saints will host for their rookie minicamp.
Peoples-Jones last played regular season snaps with the Lions back in 2023, when he caught 13-of-24 targets for 155 yards. He is highly unlikely to return to fantasy relevance at this point but could perhaps sign on as a special teams contributor.
Titans signed fourth-round pick WR Elic Ayomanor to a four-year contract.
Ayomanor will now begin learning behind Calvin Ridley. Although Ayomanor is unlikely to find a meaningful role in year one, dynasty managers should note his status as training camp gets underway this summer. The former Stanford receiver flashed big-play ability in his two college seasons.
Buccaneers signed seventh-round pick WR Tez Johnson to a four-year contract.
Johnson will serve as a rotational deep-threat option for Baker Mayfield. His thin frame (5'10/154) simply does not lend itself to the repeated hits one incurs in a full-time role. Johnson did earn 100-plus targets in his two seasons at Oregon, though. His big-play style make him a better fit in best ball for now, pending any major on-field breakthroughs.
Giants waived DT Casey Rogers.
Rogers was a 2024 undrafted free agent and logged 33 defensive snaps for the Giants in his rookie season. He is credited with zero tackles and/or sacks. He may find his way onto another roster as a practice squad option.
Vikings signed third-round pick WR Tai Felton to a four-year contract.
Felton is quietly in play to challenge Vikings No. 3 WR Jalen Nailor in training camp. Nailor (5'11/190) caught 28-of-42 targets for 414 yards and six touchdowns in his first season as a starter last year, with the latter category buoying his fantasy productivity. Felton (6'1/183), meanwhile, caught 96-of-143 targets for 1,119 yards and nine touchdowns while averaging 2.32 yards per route run in his final college season. Fantasy managers should monitor Felton’s training camp reports this summer, as he could have a matchup-based WR5 role if everything falls into place.
