NFL Injury Report 2024 Ahead Of Sunday's Week 2 Games: Jordan Love, More

Man has the injury bug struck the NFL ahead of Week 2 or what? The amount of fantasy football injuries at this point in the season is staggering considering 30 teams have yet to play their second game of the season!
NFL Injury Report Ahead of Sunday's Week 2 Games: Fantasy Football Injuries
Let’s dive into the NFL Injury Report for Week 2 because it’s a long list. With all of the fantasy football injuries taking place, make sure to hit the waiver wire for potential replacements ahead of your fantasy football Week 2 matchups.
NFL Week 2 Injury Report: Quarterbacks
Tua Tagovailoa Injury Update - Head
Man, not again. On Thursday night, Tua Tagovailoa exited the game with an apparent head injury and was immediately ruled out due to a concussion. There have been a handful of situations over the past few seasons in which this has happened. Tagovailoa has already been ruled out for Week 2 and it’s going to be a very fluid situation from here on out.
Lamar Jackson Injury Update - Soreness
Everything that was reported about Jackson missing practice on Monday is behind him and he’s good to go as he’s simply dealing with general soreness.
Jordan Love Injury Update - Knee
After the Packers came out and said Malik Willis would be the starting quarterback IF Jordan Love couldn’t play in Week 2 due to a knee sprain, we have yet to see him practice and it’s Friday. Things are looking bad for Love’s Week 2 status, but it is a positive that he’s close to playing and wasn’t placed on injured reserve. The Packers have officially listed Love as questionable.
Russell Wilson Injury Update - Calf
After a week of limited practices due to the calf injury he suffered right before Week 1, Wilson has been listed as questionable but even if he’s active, it doesn’t seem likely he’ll be the starter.
NFL Week 2 Injury Report: Running Backs
Christian McCaffrey Injury Update - Calf, Achilles
After practicing on a limited basis this week, Christian McCaffrey has been ruled OUT of the 49ers Week 2 game, and head coach Kyle Shanahan has said the team is considering placing McCaffrey on injured reserve. That is a big fantasy football injury, but Jordan Mason will be in the limelight for the foreseeable future.
Josh Jacobs Injury Update - Back
After somewhat of a concerning addition to the mid-week injury report, Josh Jacobs has been cleared for Week 2 and isn’t even listed as questionable per head coach, Matt LeFleur.
Kenneth Walker Injury Update - Oblique
Despite telling the media he was fine after the Seahawks' Week 1 game in which he left late, he’s yet to practice this week and it’s looking like he’s not going to be available in Week 2 after being listed as doubtful on the official injury report. Due to this fantasy football injury, look for Zach Charbonnet to handle a large chunk of the work in Week 2.
Raheem Mostert Injury Update - Chest
After being ruled out for Week 2 with a chest injury, it’s important to note that this is not expected to be a long-term injury per Ian Rapoport. He wasn’t placed on injured reserve due to the injury, which tells you all you need to know about the longevity of his absence.
NFL Week 2 Injury Report: Wide Receivers
Nico Collins Injury Update - Illness
Despite battling an injury this week and only being able to practice on a limited bases, Nico Collins is expected to play in Week 2. Deep breath, y’all.
Puka Nacua Injury Update - Knee
Nacua was officially diagnosed with a Grade 2 PCL strain in the same knee he suffered an injury to in the preseason. He’s been placed on injured reserve which means a minimum of four games missed making this a very tough fantasy football injury to overcome. Head coach Sean McVay isn’t sure how long Nacua will be out for but is confident he will return this season.
Malik Nabers Injury Update - Knee
Head coach Brian Daboll was asked about Malik Nabers status heading in Week 2 with a knee injury and he was quoted as saying “good” and “no concern.” This is very good, and we shouldn’t be concerned about deploying the Giants’ first-round pick in our Week 2 fantasy football lineups.
Tee Higgins Injury Update - Hamstring
The Bengals will likely be without star receiver Tee Higgins for their Week 2 game against the Chiefs with a hamstring injury as he’s officially been listed as doubtful. Higgins has been unable to practice this entire week.
Keenan Allen Injury Update - Heel
After the initial injury, the Bears made it seem like a non-issue at first, but head coach Matt Eberfuls said that it’s taken a step back after initial progress. The reason he hasn’t practiced this week was to give it time to heal, and that’s why we likely won’t see a decision on Allen’s status until Sunday.
Hollywood Brown Injury Update - Shoulder
Things went from improving to worst-case-scenario as Hollywood Brown has been placed on injured reserve and is undergoing shoulder surgery. It seemed like things were progressing, but upon last imaging, it showed the bone shifting and after multiple professional opinions, surgery was the best-case scenario for Brown. There is no timetable for his return, but there are medical professionals, such as David J. Chao (@profootballdoc on X) that suggests he won’t return this year.
DeAndre Hopkins Injury Update - Knee
The one thing you’ll note on the Titans injury report heading into Week 2 is that the name “DeAndre Hopkins” has been omitted. He’s completely off the injury report and head coach Brian Callahan suggested Hopkin's snapshare will rise in Week 2 as well.
Rome Odunze Injury Update - Knee
Odunze has officially been listed as questionable for Week 2 due to a knee injury and took a few minutes at his locker after practice to talk about where his knee is currently. He has a knee sprain and doctors suggest there is no further risk with it, which is why he practiced in a limited capacity.
Jayden Reed Injury Update - Shin/Calf
Despite a massive Week 1, Jayden Reed has been placed on the injury report and is listed as questionable for the Packers Week 2 contests with a shin/calf injury. It something he dealt with during the preseason, so it makes us wonder if he aggravated it again in Week 1 or during practice.
Jameson Williams Injury Update - Ankle
Jameson Williams spent this week limited at practice due to an ankle sprain that he suffered in the Lions' Week 1 win against the Rams. The team has officially listed him as questionable but there’s no indication that he’s going to miss the game, but this is something we must monitor.
Jordan Addison Injury Update - Ankle
Jordan Addison has been ruled out of the Vikings' Week 2 outing due to a sprained ankle suffered in their Week 1 victory against the Giants.
Josh Downs Injury Update - Ankle
After missing the Colts’ first game of the year with an ankle sprain, Josh Downs returned to practice on Wednesday and Thursday in limited fashion, but the big leap for Downs was his full participation on Friday. A full Friday practice suggests things are trending toward Downs playing. He has officially been listed as questionable.
Roman Wilson Injury Update - Ankle
The Steelers are listing rookie receiver Roman Wilson as questionable for their Week 2 contest with a sprained ankle. Wilson started off the week of practice limited, was a full participant on Thursday, but was back down to limited on Friday. It’s very interesting to see that step back and what that means for his status this week.
Joshua Palmer Injury Update - Knee
After not practicing on Friday with a knee injury, the Chargers have officially listed Joshua Palmer as questionable for Week 2. Not practicing on Friday puts a damper on his Week 2 status.
NFL Week 2 Injury Report: Tight Ends
David Njoku Injury Update - Ankle
David Njoku has been ruled out of the Browns’ Week 2 game with a high-ankle sprain. Like we’ve seen in the past, these types of sprains are usually something that takes four to six weeks to heal. We’ll see about Njoku in Week 3.
Dalton Schultz Injury Update - Ankle
After having a minor ankle sprain this week, Dalton Schultz practiced on Friday and was a full participation. He’s not even listed on the Texans’ injury report.
Jake Ferguson Injury Update - Knee
It’s highly unlikely that we’re going to see Cowboys tight end Jake Ferguson suit up in the Cowboys Week 2 outing after not practicing for the entire week. Cowboys EVP said they’re going to be taking a conservative approach and that it’ll be a stretch for him to play. He’s listed as doubtful.
Player News
49ers signed No. 11 pick EDGE Mykel Williams to a four-year contract.
The deal is worth $24.9 million and is fully guaranteed. As is the case with all first-round picks, his contract includes a fifth-year option. The 49ers shed hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts this offseason and the bulk of those savings came on the defensive side of the ball. Defensive end was an obvious position of need and Williams was widely regarded as the best pass-rusher on the board when 49ers GM John Lynch was on the clock. Williams totaled five sacks in 2024 and left Georgia with 14 sacks across three seasons as a starter.
Vikings signed No. 24 pick OG Donovan Jackson to a four-year contract.
It’s a fully guaranteed deal worth $17.2 million with a fifth-year team option. Minnesota taking Jackson with the 24th-overall pick came as a bit of a surprise on draft night, but the Vikings needed offensive line help and Jackson was considered worthy of a first-round pick by some draftniks. He was primarily a left guard at Ohio State but successfully kicked out to tackle for the bulk of his senior season. Jackson is likely fated for guard duties in Minnesota, but the positional versatility remains a plus.
Titans claimed Anfernee Orji off waivers from the Saints.
Orji played primarily on special teams in New Orleans but was credited with two starts across 16 appearances. He totaled 30 combined tackles and a pair of TFLs. Orji will need to continue seeing work on special teams to make the Titans’ roster.
Patriots signed RB Trayveon Williams, formerly of the Bengals.
Henderson was passed on the Cincinnati depth chart by Chase Brown last year and the team even traded for Khalil Herbert midseason. Despite having no role on offense, Williams was active for all 17 games as a special teamer. He will likely hold a similar role in New England if he cracks the team’s 53-man roster.
Free agent RB Jordan Mims worked out for the Patriots.
The Pats also worked out former Bengals running back Trayveon Williams. Mims ran 20 times for 70 yards in 2024 while adding 12 catches for 71 yards through the air. He also got some run on special teams. The Patriots are looking for some extra depth at running back, but there isn’t room for another fantasy-relevant option behind Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson.
Jaguars signed TE Quintin Morris, formerly of the Bills, to a one-year contract.
Morris is purely a blocking tight end. He caught just 15 passes during his three years with the Bills, though he did manage to find the end zone three times. Morris will back up Brenton Strange in Jacksonville.
