Best NFL Week 5 Player Prop Picks
Now that we’re around a quarter of the way through the season - which has flown by - we’re starting to get a firm grasp on who teams are in terms of their strengths and weaknesses. There is still plenty more to be seen, but what we have now is still solid to utilize when it comes to locking in NFL Week 5 player prop picks.
However, as easy as it can be to look at raw numbers, it’s also important to keep in mind recent opponents, game scripts and simply how teams match up against each other. There is nuance to everything, including NFL Week 5 player props, but that’s what we’re here to help. So, let’s get into our two favorite sports for Sunday!
Jets vs. Vikings Player Props: Aaron Rodgers Over 221.5 Passing Yards (-114 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
We’re wasting absolutely zero time with our NFL Week 5 player prop picks, as we’re targeting a player in the London game at 9:30 PM ET! It’s not just any player either - it’s arguably the most polarizing in the entire league with future Hall-of-Fame QB Aaron Rdogers.
He’s facing an old division rival in the Minnesota Vikings, and we’re focused on him going over his passing yards prop. First and foremost, FanDuel isn’t just providing an excellent sign up bonus for us to take you through - their line is also the best on the market. Others have this as high as 227.5 yards, so we’re already getting value!
So, you may have seen a popular stat throughout the week. That would be the fact that Rodgers has not thrown for over 300 yards in 26 straight games now. Undoubtedly, that’s a long stretch, but we aren’t asking for anything close to that. It’s also not how the Jets are built to win, but regardless, we trust him to go over this number.
He may not have WR Davante Adams back with him (yet), but he’s hit over this number in each of New York’s last two games. Now, he gets to face the NFL’s absolute worst passing defense. That’s right, Minnesota is 4-0 but has allowed the most passing yards per game (274.5).
Of course, part of that is due to teams having to throw to catch up. That’s just fine by us, as we aren’t picking a winner here. So, the first of our NFL Week 5 player prop picks is on Aaron Rodgers over 221.5 passing yards (-114 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
Packers vs. Rams Player Prop Bets: Josh Jacobs Longest Rush Over 14.5 Yards (-114 at FanDuel Sportsbook)
We’re going to skip over the 1 PM ET slate for the next of our NFL Week 5 player prop picks, but we expect it to be worth the wait. Our target is the new RB in town for the Green Bay Packers, which is former Las Vegas Raider Josh Jacobs.
He’s just two seasons removed from leading the entire NFL in rushing, and the start with the new franchise was superb. In his first two games with the Pack, he rushed for 84 yards and 151 yards. Admittedly, last week’s stats leave a lot to be desired, but this is where it’s important to keep in mind game script.
Green Bay fell behind 28-0 before halftime last Sunday, so the carries were few and far between at that point. They’re favored this Sunday, so we don’t expect that to be the case this time around. Even still, we only need a single carry to hit this prop! Rather than an overall yardage prop, we’re focused on Jacobs’ longest rush.
First and foremost, the Rams have the absolute worst rushing defense in the NFL, allowing 165.5 yards per game. However, that is just the beginning. Let’s break down their matchups.
In Week 1, they allowed a 21-yard rush. In Week 2, they allowed THREE different players to have rushes of 21 or more yards (one of which was 42). In Week 3, they allowed a 34-yard rush, and last Sunday, they allowed another three players to have rushes of 19+ yards.
Lastly, in those first two games where Jacobs got his usual volume, he had rushes of 32 and 34 yards. Taking all that into account, the second of our NFL Week 5 player props is Josh Jacobs' longest rush over 14.5 yards (-114 at FanDuel Sportsbook).
