NBA Best Bets Today, 4/14: Predictions, Picks, Props, & Odds On Sunday
Here we are, the last day of the NBA regular season. It began on October 24, and a long and grueling season is coming to an end for ten teams. 12 teams will be waiting until April 20th and eight teams will be in the play-in tournament. One great aspect of this season is there are so many undetermined rankings.
It will be an action packed day, with all 30 teams playing, and playoff matches waiting to be determined. Only one game is a cross conference game, the San Antonio Spurs hosting the Detroit Pistons. All others will be conference games with rankings on the line. The Eastern teams play at 1:00 PM ET and the Western teams (along with San Antonio and Detroit) play at 3:30 PM ET.
Today will be a loaded, last day of the season with bets galore. However, with so many players possibly sitting out, picking the props can be difficult. Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets has found a combination of bets to feel confident about. There will be a couple same game parlays, player props, and a parlay. A true plethora of sports betting tickets, and the Bet of the Day is on Rudy Gobert.
NBA BET OF THE DAY APRIL 14
RUDY GOBERT PROP: OVER 12.5 REBOUNDS (-135 ON DRAFTKINGS SPORTSBOOK)
Rudy Gobert has been very consistent since returning from injury on March twenty-second. More specifically his rebounding. He has been a successful wager as the sportsbooks are sleeping on Gobert, and not factoring for his great play this month.
His rebounding totals across his last 12 games starting with the most recent; 19, 15, 16, 16, 6, 15, 14, 10, 12, 14, 12, and 15. He has 13+ rebounds in eight of his last dozen games, including six of his last seven. Tonight the Minnesota Timberwolves host the Phoenix Suns in a pivotal Western Conference showdown. The Suns are tough against rebounds, but Gobert has recorded the second-most rebounds this season.
If Minnesota wins, they will be no lower than the second seed of the Western Conference. They could finish in first if the Oklahoma City Thunder lose against the Dallas Mavericks. They could also move to third with a loss and a Denver Nuggets win. The Suns have a chance to move up and out of the play-in, but also move to as low as the ninth seed with a loss. Both of these teams have much to gain and much to lose.
Rudy Gobert should play over 30 minutes tonight, and this should be a competitive game. Gobert will have an advantage over Jusuf Nurkic, as the Suns take more field goal attempts, and Minnesota plays better defense. This should lead to more defensive rebounds for Gobert. Trust Gobert to deliver again.
NBA PLAYER PROP APRIL 14
GRAYSON ALLEN PROP: OVER 2.5 THREE POINTERS MADE (-130 ON DRAFTKINGS SPORTSBOOK)
Grayson Allen has been a frequent player mentioned for Fantasy Alarm, and he has been successful. In fact, he was successful on this exact same line against the Timberwolves April nine days ago. He is chosen again for the same reasons as before.
In the last game he made seven three-point attempts. He has made three or more in three of his last five games, and this is a pivotal game for the Suns. As stated in the previous game, Allen is the fourth scoring option for his team. In the game tonight this is a good thing as the Timberwolves have great defenders.
Jaden McDaniels, Anthony Edwards, and Rudy Gobert are excellent on the defensive end, and one is about to earn his fourth Defensive Player of the Year award. Allen will not be their primary focus, and will be waiting beyond the arc to catch, release, and score. Most of the time the closest defender will be over five feet away from him
Allen has played 30 minutes in all but one game this month and should play that much again. He has 44 three attempts in his last six games, an average of over seven per game. The opportunity will be there and the Suns need every point in what will be a tough game.
NBA SAME GAME PARLAYS APRIL 14
INDIANA PACERS MONEYLINE AND PASCAL SIAKAM OVER 20.5 POINTS (+100 ON BET365 SPORTSBOOK)
The Indiana Pacers are currently in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, and with a win would avoid the play-in tournament. They have a favorable matchup against the Atlanta Hawks in the early, Eastern Conference, time slot of 1:00 PM ET.
The Hawks are locked into the 10th seed and have a play-in match with the Chicago Bulls Wednesday 5:10 PM ET. They could be resting players, or giving the second and third unit more playing time. The Pacers are currently 14-point favorites, and a moneyline was added to boost Pascal Siakam’s point line.
The Hawks allow the second-most points to opposing forwards, and Siakam will be a major force if the Pacers are to win by 14 points. If the Pacers win the game, they won’t play until April 20, earning almost a full week of rest. There are no excuses for not giving maximum effort to earn the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference.
Siakam averages 21.6 points per game, and although we were riding his rebounding line, we look at his points today. The combination of a much needed win, Siakam being one of the Pacers best scorers, and the Hawks resting players should allow Siakam to score his average if not more. A same game parlay at even odds for essentially Siakam to score his average points is worth a unit.
CLEVELAND CAVALIERS MONEYLINE AND JARRETT ALLEN OVER 10.5 REBOUNDS (+105 ON BET365 SPORTSBOOK)
Jarrett Allen has rarely been mentioned in Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets this year. He is making an appearance on the last day of the regular season, and it is a bet similar to the previously mentioned same game parlay of Siakam and the Pacers.
Allen’s rebounding line is found at 9.5 elsewhere with juiced odds and if you prefer to take the player prop exclusively, do it. Allen’s rebounding line has been paired with the Cavaliers moneyline to give positive odds.
As it sits the Cavs are fourth in the Eastern Conference, but can move as high as third with a win. They are heavy favorites today with a 12.5-point spread against the Charlotte Hornets. A win would ensure the Cavaliers are no lower than fourth in the Eastern Conference, and Allen should play his normal minutes.
He averages 10.6 rebounds per game, and has covered this line in three of his last six games played. He has a great opportunity to help his team against a poor rebounding team, as the Hornets allow the fourth-most rebounds to opposing centers. Charlotte will be mentally checked out for this game and Allen could earn 11 rebounds before the fourth quarter. Bet a unit on the same game parlay.
MONEYLINE PARLAY APRIL 14
BOSTON CELTICS, ORLANDO MAGIC, SAN ANTONIO SPURS, GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS - ALL MONEYLINE (+253 BOOSTED TO +317 ON DRAFTKINGS SPORTSBOOK)
This is a boosted ticket on a four-game moneyline parlay. All four teams are favored to win their game, two are playing for positional rankings, and two are playing for pride. The Celtics could have their second string in tonight, but they should still beat the Washington Wizards. Some Wizards players have had their summer vacation beginning Monday for over two months. Boston is looking to win its 37th game at home this year.
The Orlando Magic host the Milwaukee Bucks and both have something to play for. Orlando could slip into the seventh seed with a loss, something they desperately want to avoid. The Milwaukee Bucks could secure the second seed with a win, but they will be resting Giannis Antetokounmpo as well as other starters. Orlando is favored by 4.5 points, and should take care of the win at home.
The San Antonio Spurs and Detroit Pistons have nothing to play for. The Pistons have the worst record in the Eastern Conference, and the Spurs are tied for the worst record in the Western Conference. There are very few player props and Victor Wembanyama could miss this game. This is the true gamble of this wager, but the Spurs are playing much better basketball in April and that should continue tonight.
The Golden State Warriors are currently tied for the ninth seed in the Western Conference. They have an opportunity to move to eighth but if the Los Angeles Lakers and Sacramento Kings win, the Warriors would be the 10th seed. The Utah Jazz have only won two of their last 10 games, but those were their two most recent games. Either way the Warriors will be playing with effort to try and move to ninth and host a play-in game. The Warriors are home and currently eight-point favorites, and they should win this game. A fun parlay with two games in each of the two time slots, and it returns over three units if successful is a fun last regular season bet.
We will be covering bets for the NBA playoffs, so stay locked into Fantasy Alarm as we stack units through the finals!
