NBA Best Bets Today, 4/15: Picks, Predictions & Player Props - Tuesday

The last regular season day ended in a bizarre fashion for Fantasy Alarm NBA Best Bets. The Atlanta Hawks and Orlando Magic had a massive 72-point third quarter which caused an unsuccessful under prediction.
The Cleveland Cavaliers versus Indiana Pacers was well on its way to being a safe under prediction, then something ridiculous happened. It happened not once but twice too, the game went to double overtime, absolutely obliterating any chance at an under. It also led the Pacers to their largest comeback in franchise history, 27 points.
Fantasy Alarm was also accurate about the Portland Trail Blazers growing under Chauncey Billups (he was rewarded with a contract extension), that the Portland Trail Blazers would cover the spread against the Los Angeles Lakers (they won by almost 5x the -4.0 needed), and Donovan Clingan going over his set rebounding line.
The issue was we teased his rebounds up two to 13, and he only earned 12 as he didn’t play most of the fourth quarter. A brutal loss of one rebound on the +470 Same Game Parlay.
NBA Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 4/15
That is old news though, as the regular season is behind us, and the fourth quarter of the NBA season is upon us. Mark and I break down each game with an in-depth look at tonight’s NBA predictions, and for more insight, check out our Hawks vs. Magic and Grizzlies vs. Warriors predictions.
The first of our NBA best bets today looks at the first match today.
Hawks vs. Magic Prediction: Dyson Daniels O2.5 Steals (+110 on DraftKings) *BET OF THE NIGHT
Unlike their match Sunday the Atlanta Hawks versus Orlando Magic will have much more defense. This game is at the Kia Center, and Orlando will be playing their starters which have been the best defensive unit in the Association. They will be attacking Trae Young and limiting second attempts from the Hawks offense.
In order to counter, the Hawks will have to play their best defense, and it starts with their best defender. Dyson Daniels is easily the best defensive player of the season, but due to being a perimeter defender, it often goes unnoticed. He leads the NBA in steals with an average of 3.0 per game, which is a remarkable 1.2 more per game than the second highest total held by Nikola Jokic.
Daniels simply needs to record his average for this plus odds prediction to be true. He has recorded three or more steals in three of his last four matches, and five of his last nine games. He has been underrated, and while Young’s job is to keep the offense rolling, Daniels’ job is to stop the opposing team while covering his and Young’s man. Not an easy task, but it leads to more opportunities for steals.
Orlando is a -5.0 favorite against the Hawks, and if Atlanta is going to have any hope of winning this match Daniels will have to be at his best. Put a unit for him to cover the prop at DraftKings, and for new readers that have not joined the sportsbook, take advantage of Fantasy Alarm’s promotional offer.
Grizzlies vs. Warriors Prediction: Zach Edey O8.5 Points (-114 on FanDuel)
The later game today features the Golden State Warriors hosting the Memphis Grizzlies at the Chase Center. It should be a high scoring game and the total is projected at 228.0 points. The Warriors are -7.0 point favorites and that seems a little too high as the Grizzlies have been playing much better.
Memphis is the second highest scoring team in the Association with 121.7 points per game, just .2 points per game behind the Cleveland Cavaliers. They will need all of their offense tonight, as they play one of the most playoff experienced rosters in the NBA.
Head Coach Steve Kerr, Stephen Curry, and Draymond Green have been to six NBA Finals together, and Kerr has won five NBA championships independent of the Warriors. Not to forget Jimmy Butler, KeVon Looney who have each been to multiple finals.
In moments like these, it is often the players that don’t know what they’re up against that shine brightest. Memphis rookie Zach Edey is not oblivious to what he is up against, but Edey is also used to being ‘the man’ come postseason. Edey was named the NCAA men’s National Player of the Year… twice. He’s used to the ball being fed to him with smaller guys draped all around him, and that will be the case again.
Let us not forget that Draymond Green said Edey was soft and played him hard, only to have Edey let him know who the strong one was. He shoved Green down, bullied him down every offensive opportunity, and completely dominated him on the defensive glass. Edey answered the call of Green, and the expectation is for him to do it again.
Edey may only average 9.2 points per game, but this prediction only needs him to score his average… a little less would suffice actually. His point line is set at 8.5, which seems ludacris as the Warriors do not have a true center, and are playing much more small ball to close out the season. Looney and Jonathan Kuminga have played sparingly and may not see the court against Memphis’ starters.
Edey simply needs his point average against a much smaller lineup for this portion of NBA best bets today to be successful. Look for “March Madness” like energy from the rookie tonight, as he reminds Green just who is and who isn’t soft. Put a unit on it at FanDuel and to those that are new to the sportsbook, make sure to take advantage of Fantasy Alarm’s promotional offer.
Best NBA Prop Bets & Other Picks Today, 4/15
With only two games today, one game is going to get a double up on wagers.
The third and final of our NBA best bets today focuses on another player proposition in San Francisco.
Grizzlies vs. Warriors Prediction: Brandin Podziemski O2.5 Threes (+135 on Bet365)
When someone thinks of the Grizzlies versus Warriors match, three-point field goals will be on the top of the expectations. The person that comes to mind is unquestionably Stephen Curry, but he will be doubled often if the Grizzlies have an appropriate gameplan. That will force Golden State’s role players to step it up.
One of those role players is second year guard Brandin Podziemski. He has averaged 26.8 minutes per game this season, and should exceed that number today. Podziemski has played 30 or more minutes in six of his last seven matches, including 43 Sunday, a game the Warriors gave their all. He is trusted by the coaching staff, and will be needed to get a victory.
Podziemski is streaky, but is encouraged to attempt three point field goals. His season percentage was 37.2%, which isn’t bad for a second year player. Although he hasn’t made three three-point field goals in his last three games, the prediction is for him to change that script tonight. At +135 it is a risk we are willing to take too.
Despite the recent woes he has attempted 15 over the three game span, or five per game. However prior to that he made four threes in four straight games, including eight made threes on April third against the Los Angeles Lakers. And on March thirtieth he made seven of nine three point attempts, proving he has no issue making three in a game.
Having made three or more threes in five of his last ten matches, the odds are on our side. So is the Law of Averages for that matter, but Podziemski doesn’t need much help. Curry will be doubled, Podziemski will be wide open at times due to it, and he just has to sink it down the net. Put a unit on Bet365 for him to do just that, and for those that are not yet utilizing the sportsbook, make sure to take advantage of the offer below.
