Jimmy Butler amassed 27 points (7-of-17 FGs, 12-of-14 FTs), nine rebounds, eight assists, one block and one three-pointer in 42 minutes in a Game 6 loss to the Rockets on Friday.
Only Steven Adams attempted more free throws than Butler in Game 6, and the Rockets’ backup center was being fouled intentionally. Butler was able to attack the basket consistently, but he and Stephen Curry could not do enough to carry the Warriors on a night when many of their rotation players struggled. As a result, Golden State is headed back to Houston to play a Game 7 on Sunday after holding a 3-1 series lead.
Jimmy Butler struggled on Wednesday and finished with just eight points (2-of-10 FGs), five rebounds, two assists and two steals in Game 5 against the Rockets.
Butler once again played through the pelvic contusion he suffered in Game 2, but he didn’t have as much success as he did in Game 4. That led to head coach Steve Kerr pulling the plug and benching his starters halfway through the third quarter. This was Butler’s worst performance as a Warrior, and they will need him to be much better if they want to close this series out at home in Game 6 on Friday.
Jimmy Butler (pelvis, glute) is available to play against the Rockets in Game 5 on Wednesday.
As expected, Butler will be good to go once again after initially being listed as probable for this game. He played 40 minutes on Monday to help Golden State take a 3-1 lead in the series, and he will likely continue to play a ton of minutes to help the Warriors attempt to end the series on Wednesday.
Jimmy Butler (pelvis, glute) is probable for Game 5 on Wednesday against the Rockets.
Butler returned to the Warriors’ lineup on Monday after sitting out Game 3, and he was outstanding. The probable tag suggests he will be cleared to play as the Warriors look to close out the series. If Butler is unable to play, Jonathan Kuminga may re-enter the rotation. However, he only played 17 minutes as Butler’s replacement in Game 3.
