Yesterday’s NBA picks ‘bet of the night’ didn’t have Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, or Christian Braun, and it still wasn’t teased up enough. The Denver Nuggets went in as major underdogs against the Golden State Warriors, and the bettors that waited until official word of Nikola Jokic being out earned far more than the +215 odds when the -3 NBA predictions was written.

 

 

 

The teased down parlay on the Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns’ spreads was not needed, as they each won with ease. Each held their opponent to a score in the 80s while they scored in the high 120s. The first of our NBA best bets today, comes from a different match.

 

 

 

Nets vs. Celtics Prediction: Kristaps Porzingis U5.5 Rebounds (+130 on Bet365) *BET OF THE NIGHT

The Boston Celtics played the Brooklyn Nets in their most recent match and barely escaped with a victory. 115-113 was the final score and Kristaps Porzingis was the leading scorer for the Celtics. He scored 24 points in that match, but only recorded two rebounds in 32 minutes.

In his previous match before that he recorded two rebounds as well. Porzingis is averaging 6.6 rebounds per game but only has a combined four in his last two matches. It’s a bit mind boggling that a 7’ 2” player with a 7’ 6” wingspan is not a great rebounder, but the Celtics do not use him in that way. 

Jayston Tatum is the best rebounder on the team, and he is listed as questionable. Al Horford, Luke Kornet, and Sam Hauser are healthy, and they will supply most of the rebounding. Porzingis is too frail to really battle with centers for rebounds, even Nic Claxton of the Nets who is one of the thinnest centers in the Association.

The spread for this match is -13.5 in favor of Boston. Porzingis could see limited playing time as they try to keep him healthy. He has played just two of the Celtics’ last ten matches and he missed several playoff games last year with injuries. He has played just 33 games this season, and he probably won’t play over his average of 29.0 minutes tonight.

Cavaliers vs. Clippers Prediction: Cleveland -5 (-105 on Bet365)

The Cleveland Cavaliers finally lost a match, ending the longest streak in the Association. The Orlando Magic came into Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse and gave the Cavaliers the business, proving Orlando still has some magic left up their sleeves. Cleveland has the Eastern Conference more or less wrapped up, but are only 0.5 games ahead of the Oklahoma City Thunder for best record in the NBA.

Cleveland begins its great American west tour, with five road games on the schedule. The first is against the Los Angeles Clippers. Cleveland is healthy, only Evan Mobley is listed as questionable, and has the better roster. They also score much more points per game, 122.5 to 111.4. The Cavaliers have an opportunity to increase their total against the Thunder, which would be the deciding factor on home court advantage should they both meet in the NBA Finals.

Great teams bounce back after a loss, and Cleveland is having an all-time great regular season. They are 7-3 after a loss this season, and have an opportunity to wash the foul taste of defeat from their mouth. -5.0 points on the road against a good team isn’t easy, but Cleveland isn’t just any team. 

They are the best team in the Association, with four great players capable of being the star for any team. Look for the backcourt tandem of Darius Garland and Donovan Mitchell to excel against the Clippers. Hawks vs. Hornets Prediction: Zaccharie Risacher O14.5 Points (+100 on DraftKings)

Zaccharie Risacher is having a great rookie season and has been a constant bright spot for the Atlanta Hawks. His per game averages are: 24.5 minutes, 11.7 points, and 3.7 rebounds. He has made 91 threes this season, and compliments Trae Young in the Hawks offense.

His numbers have increased over March, and he has played over his average minutes in seven of the last ten matches. His point line is three points higher than his average, and he has scored 15 or more points in three of his last four matches. His rebounds have been up as well with 21 over his last four matches. The Hawks are also playing against one of the worst teams in the Association, the Charlotte Hornets. 

Atlanta will be without Caris LeVert, and Trae Young is playing through an injury. Risacher will be asked to deliver more offense for the Hawks with a thin backcourt. Atlanta is currently in seventh place of the Eastern Conference, but only 0.5 games ahead of the Orlando Magic. They are also only 3.0 games ahead of the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls. They could go from hosting one, or two, play-in matches to being on the road and in a lose and out scenario.
