It’s Friday, and in the month of November that means the NBA Cup is on! Great basketball just as Fantasy Alarm has predicted. The intensity is up, the guards are playing with better control, the front court smashing boards and blocking out.

Pacers vs. Bucks Prediction: Haliburton O8.5 Assists + Holiday O3.5 Assists (+187 on DraftKings) *Bet Of The Night

Yesterday’s Bet of the Night was an assists dependent wager, and today’s pick is a parlay on two players assists. Haliburton’s assists are down from his league leading numbers of last year, but that is to be expected. 

Today the Indiana Pacers play the Milwaukee Bucks in what should be a high scoring game. The total is at 236 points, and that would imply field goals need to be made. A good point guard will find the open player, and Haliburton is indeed a good point guard. Haliburton is averaging 8.5 assists per game, and against Milwaukee’s terrible defensive backcourt could have a double-double performance.

Jrue Holiday has been quiet, or at least quiet in the media. The player with the most championships this decade is an outstanding player, with great court vision. The former UCLA Bruin has recorded four or more assists in his last three games and has a season average of 4.4. 

The Boston Celtics point guard will be up against a terrible basketball team, The Washington Wizards, who are allowing the most points per game this season, 124.7. Holiday is not a greedy scorer and will look to get his teammates involved… which should be easy.

Both of these guards are playing bad defenses, and their assists lines are heavily juiced due to it. This parlay returns almost two to one odds, and we are feeling good about it. Put a full unit on this pick today. 

 

 

 

Mavericks vs. Nuggets Prediction: Denver -2.5 (-115 on BetMGM)

The two best players of this decade, and good friends, Nikola Jokic and Luka Doncic love to play against each other. This is a highly anticipated match every time the fellas from the Balkan peninsula meet on the court. However, Doncic is out with a wrist injury, and Nikola Jokic has been dealing with a personal matter for over a week and did not practice with team yesterday.

Thus, the NBA Cup tonight at Ball Arena will need another superstar to step it up. Both the Denver Nuggets and Dallas Mavericks have older veterans who have made all-star games, but it will be a battle between the younger players that determines this match.

Dereck Lively is set for a great game if Nikola Jokic doesn’t play. The second year center is overshadowed by Victor Wembanyam, and Chet Holmgren, but Interstate 35 is loaded with great, young centers. 

Christian Braun is on pace to earn the most improved player of the season award, although very few outside of Colorado and Kansas know who he is. Braun has scored double-digit points in every game this season and has been an offensive upgrade from Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.

This is a projected close game, but as a person who follows these two teams more than the rest of the Association, Dallas has not had great games in Denver. The Mavericks have lost their last four games at Ball Arena, and won only one of their last five games against the Nuggets. 

Oddly enough their most recent two games have been decided by 2 points. The home victory from Dallas came on a last second fluke three point attempt, made by Kyrie Irving. The game on November tenth came down to the last play and Dallas attempted the exact same play with Kyrie again, but it was unsuccessful. 

Look for Denver to pull away in the second half and place a unit on the spread with confidence.

On top of that against a team that allows over 116 points per game, and is void of front court players that are great perimeter defenders. 

Vucevic has attempted 15 threes in his past two games and that is supposed to stop in a game with a total of 246?!?! Yes, Two-hundred and forty-six… I had to spell it out to really let that sink in. That doesn’t make sense, and Vucevic has more games with 2+ made threes than games without. Put two units on the big man that has put big money in our bankroll.
