MLB DFS Value Plays May 13: Top DraftKings and FanDuel Picks
Saturday’s MLB DFS coverage is for the six-game main slate on DraftKings and FanDuel that starts at 7:05 pm ET. We do have Coors Field on the slate, so keep that in mind when setting lineups. Starting pitching is headlined by Zac Gallen and Julio Urias, but there are a few other intriguing options as well at cheaper prices. We don’t have many MLB Weather concerns today, but they are touched upon in today’s MLB DFS Playbook. Colby is on the playbook today, make sure to give that a read, and don’t forget to check out the MLB Lineups page and all of our MLB DFS Tools. Let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day and some we can fit into our cash and tournament lineups!
MLB DFS Value Pitchers
Dylan Cease, Chicago White Sox (DraftKings: $8,800 / FanDuel: $9,200)
I get it, he’s been awful lately (over his last five starts), but Cease has too much talent to be this cheap. He is far from a sure thing, but the upside is still there and we are getting him at nearly a mid-tier price tag. Another positive for Cease is the fact that the Astros are starting Brandon Bielak and he is far worse than any of their other pitchers, so this gives Cease an increased chance at picking up a win with some run support.
Joe Musgrove, San Diego Padres (DraftKings: $7,800 / FanDuel: $9,000)
Musgrove also hasn’t been very good so far and, like Cease, also has a pretty tough matchup. However, this is still Joe Musgrove and he can get the job done against anyone (and this price is wildly cheap). He is also coming off his best outing thus far, firing five shutout innings against these same Dodgers while giving up just two hits and striking out five.
MLB DFS Value Hitters
Ji-hwan Bae, 2B/OF, Pittsburgh Pirates (DraftKings: $3,600 / FanDuel: $2,800)
Bae drew a start yesterday and had a solid game, going 2-for-4 with a run scored. He is now hitting .250 on the year with two home runs and 14 stolen bases. The strong game last night should have him back in the lineup tonight I would imagine. Bae has an elite ability to steal bases and that can rack up points in a hurry.
Michael Massey, 2B, Kansas City Royals (DraftKings: $2,300 / FanDuel: $2,500)
Massey has been locked-in, so it’s a bit surprising to me that he is still this cheap. Over his last seven starts, he is slashing .476/.571/.857 with two home runs, a steal, and 12 total R/RBI. That is a ton of production. Today he faces Adrian Houser, who is okay, but not at all a scary matchup to go up against and he gave up seven hits across 4.2 innings in his season debut.
Ezequiel Tovar, SS, Colorado Rockies (DraftKings: $2,900 / FanDuel: $3,000)
Tovar was in here yesterday for me and we didn’t get super great results as he went 1-for-3 with a RBI, but I think we go back to the well today. Yesterday I wrote “Tovar has been hitting well with a .270 average, two home runs, a steal, and 18 total R/RBI over his last ten games, good for a 9.7 point per game average on DraftKings. That has been mostly on the road and now he heads home to Coors Field. He has been far better at home on the season with a .769 OPS, compared to a road OPS of .512,” and given that is just a game later, it is all still very relevant today.
Dominic Fletcher, OF, Arizona Diamondbacks (DraftKings: $2,400 / FanDuel: $2,400)
Fletcher had a monster game last night, going 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, and four RBI to finish with 28 DraftKings points. It was his second three-hit game in a row. Through his first 11 games this year he is hitting .457 with a home run, three doubles, and eight RBI while averaging a cool 8.1 fantasy points per game on DraftKings. Anthony DeSclafani has been very good this year, but he did just get hit around in his last start, giving up ten hits and five runs across seven innings.
