MLB DFS Value Plays April 9: Top DraftKings & FanDuel Picks
We have a ten-game MLB DFS main slate on our hands this Easter Sunday, April 9th, on DraftKings and FanDuel. We have mostly nothing but the middle of the rotation arms on the slate so that means there could be A LOT of offenses in line to score a lot of runs. If you want to spend up on them, we’ll need to dig up some treasures in terms of value plays. Let’s dive into some of my favorite value options of the day.
MLB DFS Value Pitchers
Drew Rasmussen, Tampa Bay (DraftKings - $8,300)
It’s really hard to ignore the price point, the match-up, and how good he was last time out. Rasmussen should be priced higher than he is now, but because he’s not, let’s take advantage of it. He only threw 66 pitches in his debut, but he should be extended here. Rasmussen is a massive favorite at -305, which is by far the biggest of the slate and of the entire day overall. Oakland is 28th in OPS this year and has a 24.1% K-rate this year.
Kutter Crawford, Boston Red Sox (DraftKings - $5,800 / FanDuel - $7,100)
This spot is scary after seeing Kutter Crawford in his debut, but there was some good that came from it. He had six strikeouts across four innings against the Pirates in his debut. Crawford faces off against the Tigers who rank dead last in OPS, ISO, and wOBA thus far and have struck out at a 26.9% K-rate as well. The .455 BABIP he saw in his first start is bound to come down, which should bode well for him here. Crawford is a GPP only play.
MLB DFS Value Hitters
Garrett Mitchell, Milwaukee Brewers (DraftKings - $2,700, FanDuel - $3,000)
It’s been tough sledding for opposing pitchers early on in 2023 when facing Garrett Mitchell as Mitchell’s hitting .333 to start the year. He already has five extra-base hits through seven games including three home runs. Thus far in Jake Woodford’s career, lefties have gotten the best of him notching a .440 SLG% and a .334 wOBA. Mitchell is one of the best DraftKings value plays on the board today.
Bryson Stott, Philadelphia Phillies (DraftKings - $3,100, FanDuel - $2,600)
There hasn’t been much power behind it, but Bryson Stott is off to a hot start at the dish this year batting .419 through his first eight games. He had ten home runs and 12 stolen bases across 127 games last year and he has no homers or stolen bases, so things could change very soon. Connor Overton allowed ZERO soft contact in his debut and that’s terrifying for him. Love his lineup position, hitting fifth, today.
Carlos Santana, Pittsburgh Pirates (DraftKings - $3,800, FanDuel - $2,500)
The Pirates are very interesting today and Santana is at the forefront of that. Michael Kopech’s debut did not go well as he allowed FIVE home runs and 11 base runners across 4.2 innings. Santana has looked sharp over the past few games notching 15+ DKP in three straight games including two home runs, five runs batted in, and three more runs scored. There is a chance Santana leaves the yard here once again.
