Welcome to the second to last Sunday playbook of the MLB Season! A week from today will be the final day of the season so let’s make every day count and end the season strong with some winning MLB DFS lineups. Today we have a typical Sunday slate with a 12-game slate starting at 1:10 PM EST on both DraftKings and FanDuel. We have some exciting matchups on today’s slate with the biggest games probably being the AL East showdown between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Toronto Blue Jays and the AL West matchup between the Seatle Mariners and Texas Rangers as both matchups have postseason implications for all four teams. Even for teams whose hopes of making the postseason are gone there are still plenty of great players to target to help us build some winning MLB DFS lineups whether you are playing cash games or gpp tournaments. Let’s get right into today’s playbook! Be sure to check in with our MLB DFS Tools, with the daily MLB projectionsMLB DFS rostership projections, and our MLB DFS Lineup Generator when building those lineups today to help you decide which players you should be targeting!

MLB Weather Updates

Arizona Diamondbacks vs New York Yankees: Rain starting this afternoon that doesn't appear to be letting up for the rest of the day. I would be cautious with this game.

Chicago White Sox vs Boston Red Sox: The rain doesn't look quite as bad as in New York, but still a lot of rain all day so be careful here too.

DFS Lineup Construction Thoughts

We have two aces (was going to be three but Spencer Strider has been pushed to the second game after yesterday's postponement) highlighting today’s slate with Freddy Peralta and Zac Gallen. Zac Gallen has had a bit of a rough go of it recently, so I am more inclined to go to Freddy Peralta as my favorite option of the aces. Some quality pitchers beyond the top-priced guys to choose from as well with my favorites being highlighted below. On the offensive side, some of my favorite offenses to target today include the Atlanta Braves, Houston Astros, Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Philadelphia Phillies, and Minnesota Twins.

Favorite Starters to Use for DFS Lineups

Yusei Kikuchi, Toronto Blue Jays

Yusei Kikuchi has been fantastic lately. Over his last 11 starts, he has piled up 70 strikeouts through 60.2 innings along with a 3.12 ERA. Hopefully, he got himself more than the short 11 hours of sleep he had before his last outing and can be even more dominant today against the Tampa Bay Rays than he was with his 7 strikeouts and 1 earned run through 5 innings against the New York Yankees

Carlos Rodon, New York Yankees

I think it is ridiculous that Carlos Rodon is still this cheap. I understand that he got off to a very rough start, but his velocity has been back up in his last two starts in which he has gotten 19 total strikeouts through 11.2 innings giving up 4 runs. I am fully bought back in and the fact that you could get an ace level start out of a starter priced this low is too great to pass up.

Recommended DFS Hitters

Highest Expected Run Totals

Cincinnati Reds vs Quinn Priester

Houston Astros vs Steven Cruz

Atlanta Braves vs Jackson Rutledge

Boston Red Sox vs Mike Clevinger

Favorite Hitters to Use for DFS Lineups

Cal Raleigh, C Seattle Mariners

Big Dumper has been a big contributor for the Seattle Mariners recently with 2 homers in his last three games and 5 in his last 15 games with a .911 OPS over that stretch as well. He is batting third or fourth most days for the Mariners and I am hoping he can come up big again today as the Mariners desperately need a win against the Rangers today.

Ozzie Albies, 2B Atlanta Braves

I can’t get away from Ozzie Albies right now. He has been just incredible recently and I have a hard time wanting to go anywhere else at second base (at least on the top end). He is on a 9-game hitting streak now and has gotten multiple hits in 7 of them as well as three homers in that stretch and has 10 hits in his last 4 games.

Ke'Bryan Hayes, 3B Pittsburgh Pirates

Ke'Bryan Hayes is also stacking up the hits recently with 18 hits through his last 10 games and a 1.200 OPS over that stretch. He appears to have taken some great strides at the plate recently and Pirates fans should be excited about what he might be able to do in a full season next year if he can stay healthy. I am happy to ride with him on this hot streak at the end of the season at the very least.

Brandon Nimmo, OF New York Mets

Brandon Nimmo had a rough 0-20 stretch at the end of August but since then has gotten back on track and has been hitting steady through September. After that 4-game hitless streak, he has only been held hitless twice through 23 games and has slashed .340/.402/.639 with 6 homers. Even in a lefty-lefty matchup today I think Nimmo will continue to produce.
