Fantasy Baseball Injury Report - Week 27: Kodai Senga, Yordan Alvarez, More
Many fantasy baseball leagues likely held their championship matchup this past week, but for those of you in roto setups, we have one more week to accrue those counting stats, and jostle for valuable points!
Therefore, keep an eye on the fantasy baseball injury report here at Fantasy Alarm! The New York Mets haven’t had Francisco Lindor for over a week, and while they were hoping for a return from Kodai Senga, that won’t be the case any longer.
Furthermore, the Rangers and Cardinals saw Max Scherzer and Sonny Gray hit the injured list respectively. Other key names in this week’s MLB injury report are Yordan Alvarez, Josh Jung, and Rafael Devers.

MLB Injury Report - Starting Pitchers
Kodai Senga, New York Mets - Calf
The Mets were leaving the door open for Senga to return at some point, but after reporting triceps tightness after his last rehab outing, his season is over.
Max Scherzer, Texas Rangers - Hamstring
Scherzer was placed on the IL after being scratched from his start with a hamstring strain. His 2024 season will come to an end after making just nine starts.
Sonny Gray, St. Louis Cardinals - Forearm
Forearm tendinitis will send Gray to the injured list, effectively ending his 2024 campaign. In his first year with the Cardinals, Gray went 13-9 with a 3.84 ERA and 1.09 WHIP across 166.1 IP.
Merrill Kelly, Arizona Diamondbacks - Calf
Kelly was removed his last start with a cramp in his right calf. His next start shouldn’t be in any serious jeopardy.
Kevin Gausman, Toronto Blue Jays - Back
Gausman had a no-no through five innings in his last start but was removed with lower back tightness. I’d say his next start is in some jeopardy.
Robbie Ray, San Francisco Giants - Hamstring
There’s just not enough time for Ray to return from his hamstring injury, and his 2024 season will come to an end after posting a 4.70 ERA and 1.14 WHIP across seven starts.
MLB Injury Report - Hitters
Francisco Lindor, New York Mets - Back
Lindor continues to remain out of the lineup with his back issue. He’s still day-to-day, and given the current state of things, the Mets likely can’t afford to put him on the IL.
Yordan Alvarez, Houston Astros - Leg
Alvarez seemed to have injured his knee after sliding into second base. You can see him grabbing at his knee in the video below.
Steven Kwan, Cleveland Guardians - Back
The Guardians are expected to welcome Kwan back in the lineup on Tuesday.
Max Muncy, Los Angeles Dodgers - Body
Muncy was scratched on Sunday with what the team is calling general body soreness. Consider him day-to-day, and this absence shouldn’t keep him out long.
Rafael Devers, Boston Red Sox - Shoulder
Devers’ 2024 season will come to an end as he was placed on the IL with shoulder inflammation. He ends the year with 28 home runs, 83 RBI, and a .272 average across 138 games.
Josh Jung, Texas Rangers - Wrist
Jung is dealing with some discomfort in his surgically repaired wrist. They hope to have him back before the end of the regular season, but with the Rangers eliminated from playoff contention, don’t expect them to rush him back for ultimately no reason.
Ke’Bryan Hayes, Pittsburgh Pirates - Back
Hayes has been on the IL for over a month with back inflammation, but Pittsburgh has closed the door on any return in 2024. Hayes appeared in just 96 games for Pittsburgh, hitting .233 with four home runs and 11 stolen bases.
