Jesus Luzardo MLB DraftKings Pick6 Pick: Higher Than 5.5 Strikeouts
This is a big time boom or bust matchup but the numbers should be on our side today with Luzardo who has had a bumpy road over the last month when on the mound. What we love about Luzardo is his strikeout rate which sits at 27.2% and a near career best 10.63 K/9.
Today he faces a Giants team that on the season has the fifth-highest strikeout rate against left-handed pitching.
Luzardo is capable of cashing this pick in three innings when he has all his pitches going an after a rough outing last time out I'm expecting a strong bounce back performance.
Pick: Higher Than 5.5 Strikeouts
Colt Keith MLB DraftKings Pick6 Pick: Higher Than 5.5 Fantasy Points
All we need is 5.5 fantasy points today out of Colt Keith and today he has that matchup to do as he takes on the Rays and right-handed pitching Zack Littell.
On the season lefties have a .472 slugging percentage off Littell and he's allowing 2.1 HR/9 to them as well.
Keith has been a monster over the last two games, scoring over 20 fantasy points in each contest from the leadoff spot.
He cashes this today with ease if he just continues to do what he has against the Rays in this series.
Pick: Higher Than 5.5 Fantasy Points
Bryce Elder MLB DraftKings Pick6 Pick: LessThan 16.5 Pitching Outs
Well, we took the over on Nick Kurtz last night and he hit that with ease thanks to his grand slam. I'm not sure if you noticed but this ballpark in Sacramento is an offensive haven and Braves starter Didier Fuentes found hat out the hard way. I'm expecting Bryce Elder to face the same here this evening as we look for him to finish with less than 16.5 pitching outs which means he can't go more than 5.1 innings.
Elder has struggled to pitch deep into games and has a big problem with home runs and right-handed hitters.
I just don't see him having a long leash tonight even after the Braves were forced to burn their bullpen last night.
Pick: Less Than 16.5 Pitching Outs

Player News
The Reds are finalizing a trade for Rays starter Zack Littell, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan.
Littell — who threw five scoreless innings on Wednesday night against the Yankees — provides Cincinnati with some additional starting rotation depth heading into the final two months of the season after posting a strong 3.72 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 85/17 K/BB ratio across 128 1/3 innings (21 starts). The move to hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park won’t help his home run issues, but it can’t really be any worse than George M. Steinbrenner Field has this year. The intriguing wrinkle here is that Joe Boyle is guaranteed a rotation spot with the Rays, who now have the ability to bring back Taj Bradley, who was excellent on Wednesday night for Triple-A Durham, or roll the dice on reclamation project Forrest Whitley.
Spencer Steer went 2-for-3 with a triple, two RBI, one run scored, and one walk in a 5-2 win over the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Steer was the hero of this game, working an 11-pitch at-bat against Emmet Sheehan that ended with a two-run triple to give his Reds an eighth inning lead. The ball should have been a home run too, as James Outman skied over the center field fence to keep the ball in the yard, but it clanked off the heel of his glove for a triple. Funny enough, Steer also got a gift earlier in his at-bat when he hit a foul ball to right field that Andy Pages misjudged and dropped. Nevertheless, Steer seemed to turn a corner in June after a dreadful start to his season only to struggle again in July with a .669 OPS.
Tony Santillan hit a batter and struck out another in his lone inning of work to earn the save against the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Santillan was called upon to close this one out after Emilio Pagan threw 25 pitches and took the loss on Tuesday. He was up to the task too, working retiring both Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani to close this one out after hitting rookie Alex Freeland with a pitch. Look for him to revert back to his usual set-up role after nabbing this save chance.
Nick Martinez allowed four hits and two runs with two walks and seven strikeouts over six innings in a no-decision against the Dodgers on Wednesday.
Martinez rode his deep pitch mix to a quality start here. He worked all four quadrants of the zone and threw each of his six pitches at least 8% of the time. Also, he forced at least one swing-and-miss with five of them. Those six strikeouts were also his most in any start since all the way back on April 9th. Things don’t get easier for him next time out, as he’s scheduled to face the Cubs in Chicago.
Freddie Freeman went 1-for-2 with a two-run home run and two walks on Wednesday against the Reds.
Freeman’s two-run shot was the extent of the Dodgers’ offense against Nick Martinez and the Reds bullpen here. Their lineup has been scuffling for the better part of a month now and Freeman’s struggles have been at the center of it, with a barely .600 OPS over his last 50 games.
Tigers acquired RHP Rafael Montero from the Braves for INF Jim Jarvis.
Montero becomes the latest addition to Detroit’s bullpen overhaul at the trade deadline after making 39 appearances this season between the Braves and Astros. The well-traveled 34-year-old has made 360 appearances in the big leagues since 2014.
