Athletics vs. Brewers Predictions: Sunday, April 20th
The Milwaukee Brewers and Athletics wrap up their three-game series on Sunday afternoon. The starting pitching matchup and respective offensive splits point to the road squad having an advantage. Let’s break it down.
Athletics starter Jeffrey Springs has just a 4.50 ERA and is coming off three straight shaky outings. However, the left-hander faces an offense today that’s struggled in the split. The Brewers have a .267 wOBA (25th in MLB), low 6.5% walk rate (27th), and .087 ISO (28th) vs. lefties this season. The lack of walks and power are key as Springs has had issues with control and giving up homers at times.
Springs boasts some encouraging underlying metrics as well. The A’s southpaw has a 33.7% chase rate (82nd percentile), 30.5% hard-hit rate (84th), and 5.1% barrel rate (73rd). He can limit the Milwaukee lineup enough here. Over the past two weeks, the Brew Crew has a .258 wOBA (26th) against left-handers.
Meanwhile, Logan Henderson will make his MLB debut for the Brewers today. The rookie right-hander has a 3.21 ERA in three Triple-A starts and has plenty of potential. Yet, this is a tough matchup for his first start. The Athletics are a top-10 offense against righties over the past week with a .341 wOBA (7th), .272 BA (5th), 13.1% K rate (2nd), and .204 ISO (5th).
The A’s present a sneaky-tough spot for any pitcher right now. Henderson could easily run into trouble. He had just a 4.56 ERA in six Triple-A starts last year and is basically being thrust into the Milwaukee rotation out of necessity based on the lengthy list of starting pitcher injuries.
Back the visiting Athletics to win outright and lead after the first five innings. There’s clear value on both lines based on the above matchups.

Yankees vs. Rays Predictions: Sunday, April 20th
Sunday afternoon’s series finale between the New York Yankees and Tampa Bay Rays should favor both offenses. We can see a high-scoring game in this AL East matchup – similar to two of the first three games of this series.
Rays starter Ryan Pepiot just allowed six runs on nine hits last outing. He’s now looked shaky over his previous three starts with six homers, eight walks, and 20 hits allowed over his past 16 innings. This recent form – along with a 4.91 ERA and 1.59 WHIP – are worrisome heading into today’s matchup.
The New York offense is punishing right-handed pitching this year. Against righties, the Yanks have a .344 wOBA (4th in MLB), .449 SLG (3rd), and .199 ISO (4th) so far. The lineup has cooled off a bit recently but it’s still dangerous. The familiarity with hitting at Steinbrenner Field, the Yankees’ Spring Training home, adds another element.
Yankees starter Max Fried is off to a strong start to the season with a 1.88 ERA through four outings. Yet, some negative regression may be looming for the southpaw. Fried’s 3.52 xERA suggests he’s been lucky so far. His league-average barrel, chase, and whiff rates could catch up to him as well.
Today, Fried faces a Rays offense that’s hitting left-handed pitching well lately. Against southpaws over the past week, Tampa has a .339 wOBA (7th) with a .267 batting average (8th) and 128 wRC+ (5th). The Rays are also a top-10 offense at home this season.
On that note, Steinbrenner Field is proving to be a higher-scoring environment. There have been 9+ total runs scored in nine of the Rays’ last 11 home games. Plus, their early-afternoon contests have seen an average of 9.8 runs scored this year.
Grab the over for both the full game and first five innings. Even with a pitcher like Fried on the mound, this game could be sneaky high-scoring.

- Over 8.5 Total Runs (-108 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
- 1st 5 Innings Over 4.5 Runs (-115 on DraftKings Sportsbook)
