Dodgers vs. Angels Prediction: Wednesday, September 4th

Again, this time of the season in MLB is all about targeting those playing for the playoffs and those not and that’s the matchup we have in front of us tonight as the Dodgers visit the Angels! Starting at the top of these MLB predictions, we have a matchup between two struggling pitchers in Bobby Miller and Griffin Canning. 

Miller has posted an ERA of 7.25 this season so far and has really struggled recently as well allowing 3 or more runs in 4 straight starts. Canning, on the other side, must face a Dodgers lineup that scores 5.04 runs per game and he had a 4.94 ERA in the month of August. Considering these factors, it is wise to bet the over and that’s exactly what I am going to do in this game. 

For the next of our MLB best bets today, let’s move into a full fade of Canning who routinely allows handfuls of hits per start. His line sits at 5.5 hits allowed tonight and that’s a high number, but Canning normally goes 5 or more innings regardless of his form so that leaves plenty of time for the Dodgers offense to attack him tonight. Give me the over on 5.5 hits allowed from Canning tonight as the next pick. 

Lastly, you know I must add a Dodgers bat to the card in a matchup like this one! Canning struggles more against lefty hitters this season allowing an average over .280 and an OPS of over .850 on the season. That puts Freddie Freeman very much in play as he’s hitting .421 over the past 5 games with 4 homers! 

There are a couple different wager we could make to back Freeman tonight and all would be good bets, but the best wager is on the total bases when it comes to value. So, give me the over on 1.5 on that prop and let’s rake in some dough!
