Padres vs. Marlins Prediction: Saturday, August 10th

We are back at it, attacking the Miami Marlins today. Yesterday’s game might have taken 10 innings, but they still won 6-2, and I am guessing they don’t need extras today.

Yesterday, they had to face Edward Cabrera, who has some upside, but today, they get Roddery Munoz, an even easier matchup for them. He has a 5.68 ERA on the season and a 6.45 xERA that suggests he could be even worse. This Padres offense should have no issue getting to him today.

Roddery Munoz especially struggles against lefties, so I am dialed in on the lefty bats to do some damage against him today. Jackson Merrill has been particularly incredible among their lefty bats recently, with 8 hits, including 3 homers and a triple, over his last 3 games, so I like him to get over 1.5 total bases in tonight's game.

I also think that Matt Waldron should be able to keep this Marlins offense quiet tonight. While he has had some mixed results over the season, he has some solid strikeout upside and has had 6 and 7 strikeouts in his last two starts. Facing this Marlins team that has been striking out over 25% of the time since the all-star break, I see no reason why he shouldn’t be able to get at least 5 strikeouts in this matchup.
