Game 3 of the American League Divisional Series between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians kicks off on Wednesday with the series tied at one game each.

Game 2 was a stunner as the Tigers scored three runs in the top of the ninth inning off of the previously impervious Emmanuel Clase who had a 0.61 ERA on the season.

Game 3 will be an interesting matchup as we get deeper into the pitching rotations of these two teams who do not really have deep options with the Tigers sending out rookie Keider Montero and the Guardians countering with veteran Alex Cobb.

How will Game 3 play out? Before we make our Tigers vs. Guardians predictions, let us take a look at the top stories and pitching matchups for Game 3.

Cleveland Guardians: Get The Offense Going

The is a premium spot for the Guardians offense as Keider Montero was far from spectacular this season with the 24-year-old going 6-6 with a 4.76 ERA while striking out just 77 over 98.1 innings.

He did however face the Guardians this year and in that lone start he tossed 6.1 shutout innings.

The Guardians offense cannot go cold because it will give Tigers manager AJ Hinch the opportunity to use his strong bullpen in the later innings and try to steal a close Game 3.

Detroit Tigers: Get Out To A Lead

You are at home and coming off of a huge Game 2 win. With the momentum on your side the Tigers needs to jump out to an early lead here today so that Keider Montero can pitch with some breathing room and manager AJ Hinch can go to his bullpen to play the matchups earlier in the game.

The Guardians are sending Alex Cobb to the mound today. Cobb made just three appearances this season, going 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA.

The veteran righty has just two career postseason appearances and those were over a decade ago.

Let's see if these young Tiger bats can do damage early in this one.

Guardians vs. Tigers Starting Pitcher & Lineup

Alex Cobb, Cleveland Guardians

Cobb missed most of this season and made only three appearances in total with his final start of the season coming on September 1st.

Though limited in his workload, Cobb was effective, going 2-1 with a 2.76 ERA.

He didn't throw more than 82 pitches in a game this season and given his long layoff there is a good chance we only see him for a few innings before the Guardians go to the bullpen.

Keider Montero, Detroit Tigers

The 24-year-old is being put to the test today as he starts Game 3 of the ALDS. Montero was far from spectacular this season with the 24-year-old going 6-6 with a 4.76 ERA while striking out just 77 over 98.1 innings.

He did however face the Guardians this year and in that lone start he tossed 6.1 shutout innings.

If he can limit the damage and get the Tigers bullpen with a lead, then Detroit may be able to pull off the upset.

Guardians vs. Tigers Predictions For AL Divisional Series Game 2

I think offense is going to reign supreme here today as both teams are sending out starting pitching that is at best questionable.

Yes, the bullpens for both squads are pretty elite and if runs are not scored early, they may be hard to come by as we get to the later innings.

Whoever jumps out to the early lead today I think is the team that ends up getting the victory.

Guardians vs. Tigers Player Prop: Keider Montero More Than 1.5 Runs (+120 on DraftKings)

I'm taking a shot on the Guardians offense here today against Keider Montero.

The Tigers are starting the 24-year-old and while he may only go a few innings, we may only need one swing of the bat for us to cash in on this play.

The Guardians scored five runs before recording an out back in Game 1, let us hope to see similar success today against Montero, a pitcher who pitches to a lot of contact and had a 17.3% HR/FB rate.
