Roy Helu

Helu was placed on the IR on the 29th of July and now has been cut loose by the Raiders. He was gearing up to be a depth option in the backfield for them and shouldn't be anything more than that when healthy for another team.

This is a change from the reports yesterday that he had been released outright. Helu is coming off surgery on both hips and is not ready to take to the field yet, obviously.

With Helu's age creeping up in years, this hip injury is not a good thing for him as he's trying to make the 53-man roster. This injury could keep Helu from playing for the Raiders this upcoming season.

After a few productive seasons in Washington, Helu failed to do much at all for the Raiders in 2015. Now, with plenty of younger options in the Oakland backfield, Helu could be in danger of losing his spot with the team this summer.
