Gary Neal
Player News
Neal's 10-day contract with the Hawks expired on Friday, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Neal made two appearances with the Hawks during his 10-day deal with the club, averaging 2.0 points in 9.0 minutes per outing. The Hawks apparently weren't impressed enough with Neal's performance, so rather than inking him to another 10-day deal, they signed Lamar Patterson to add some depth in the backcourt. Neal will likely head back to the D-League as he awaits another call back to the NBA.
Hawks signed Gary Neal to a 10-day contract.
The Hawks traded veteran point guard Mo Williams in order to free up a roster spot for Neal. The 32-year-old will battle for playing time with Tim Hardaway Jr. and Kent Bazemore so it’s hard to imagine Neal having much fantasy upside. Fantasy owners can avoid this situation until Neal’s role is more clear and if he is able to latch on for the remainder of the season.
Hawks are considering giving Gary Neal a 10-day contract.
After the Hawks worked out Neal they seem to be likely to sign him to a 10-day-deal. The Hawks didn't get much production from their rookies on Friday's game so perhaps that is what is motivated the Hawks to make the move. Neal isn't worth adding in most leagues.
Gary Neal has been traded from the Westchester Knicks to the Texas Legends for a 2017 third round D-League draft pick.
Neal played 40 games for Washington last year, where he averaged 9.8 points per game. He appeared in one game for Westchester, where he scored four points and added a rebound and a steal.
