Khris Davis officially announced his retirement from professional baseball.

The 36-year-old slugger hasn’t appeared in a big league game since 2021 and hasn’t seen the field at all since his time with the Kentucky Wild Health Gnomes of the independent Atlantic League in 2022. He finishes his career hitting .242/.314/.491 with 221 homers and 590 RBI over 980 games in nine seasons with the Brewers, Athletics and Rangers. Best of luck to Davis in the next chapter of his life.

Khris Davis has signed with the Kentucky Wild Health Genomes of the independent Atlantic League.

Davis, who failed to land a spot on the Athletics' season-opening roster back in spring training, spent time in the Mexican League earlier this year and will head to the independent Atlantic League. The 34-year-old slugger, who appeared in 114 games last year between the Athletics and Rangers, is hoping to get back to the majors later this season.

Robert Murray of FanSided reports that Khris Davis is "drawing interest from multiple teams."

Davis, 34, has just a .667 OPS since the start of the 2019 season, so he'd surely have to settle for a minor league deal and hope to hit his way back to the big leagues. The good news for him is that the universal designated hitter would theoretically give him a little more appeal.

Khris Davis doubled on Sunday in the Athletics' shutout loss at the hands of the Blue Jays.

Davis supplied the free-falling Athletics' lone extra-base hit of the one-sided affair as they wound up dropping all three games of a pivotal series against the Blue Jays north of the border. Not good.
