Jose Altuve hit a homer and scored twice in a loss to the Mariners on Monday
Jose Altuve went 3-for-5 with a leadoff homer on Saturday in a loss to the Twins.
Altuve took Minnesota starter Bailey Obert deep for a leadoff homer — his second big fly of the season — as part of a solid three-hit performance. Unfortunately, he also committed a costly fourth-inning fielding error that led to the floodgates opening up completely on starter Spencer Arrighetti. The 34-year-old veteran remains a work in progress defensively in left field, but his bat remains as consistent as ever.
Jose Altuve swatted his first home run of the season on Tuesday, accounting for the Astros’ lone tally in a loss to the Giants.
Altuve tagged Giants’ right-hander Logan Webb for a 356-foot (105.4 mph EV) solo shot into the Crawford boxes in the fourth inning, pulling the Astros to within two runs at 3-1. That would be the extent of the scoring in the ballgame. The 34-year-old second baseman finished the night 1-for-4 and is hitting a solid .389 (7-for-18) with a homer and three runs scored to open the 2025 campaign.
Jose Altuve is back in left field for Tuesday’s game against the Giants.
Altuve spent Monday’s series opener at second base. He’ll head back to the outfield for the fourth time in five games to open the regular season with Brendan Rodgers handling the keystone.
