Published: Apr 08, 2025
Welcome to another Playbook filled with NHL DFS picks! The NHL season is slowly coming to an end, so we need to soak up the last few slates and enjoy them.
We have 10-games on tap with some high-scoring offences. Let’s dive into the action and see which players we need to keep an eye on.
NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, April 8th
Before we get into actual NHL DFS picks, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper.
There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option.
NHL Pick 'Em Picks On Sleeper Fantasy Today
- Zach Werenski O/3.5 SOG
- Auston Matthews O/0.5 A
- Lane Hutson O/0.5 PPP
We know how good Zach Werenski is at shooting the puck, but most of that success has come at home. He has cleared 3.5 shots on goal in five straight and there’s no reason to believe he can’t keep that streak going tonight against Ottawa.
Auston Matthews becomes an assist machine on the road. His matchup against Florida isn’t ideal, but he’s good enough to be able to create space for himself and his teammates. The Panthers are without Sam Bennett for this game, so there will be space out there for Matthews to create offence.
Remember when people actually thought that Lane Hutson wasn’t going to win Rookie of The Year? LMAO! The kid set the record for most assists by a rookie in Canadiens history and he’s not going to slow down.
The Red Wings still have a chance to make the playoffs, but they have no chance of being good on the penalty kill. They have been awful all season, so you know the minute Hutson can find Patrik Laine in his offense for the one-timer, he will.
Tuesday Salary Cap NHL DFS Picks
Goalie Of The Day: Jacob Markstrom - NJD
It’s crazy to see how far the Boston Bruins have fallen. Am I crying for them? Absolutely not. They are so bad offensive and they’d be even worse if it wasn't for David Pastrnak. Jacob Markstrom has won four in a row and this matchup on paper is elite. He needs to pick up the win to hit value, so let’s hope the Devils can do their job.
Honorable Mention: Joseph Woll - TOR
As mentioned earlier, the Panthers are going to be very thin down the middle without Bennett. That means that Toronto will have a better chance of winning this game if they can score enough goals. Joseph Woll has been all over the place this season, but he is very reasonably priced on DraftKings, and I’ll take my chances with him in a GPP.
Player Of The Day: Sidney Crosby - PIT
It’s not a question of *IF* Sidney Crosby will score tonight is a question of *When*. Crosby has 50 points at home this season and he has a juicy matchup against the Chicago Blackhawks. The Penguins Captain is elite, and he will find the back of the net. If we’re lucky, maybe he scores more than one.
Honorable Mention: Filip Forsberg - NSH
Do I care about the Nashville Predators tonight? No. Do I care about Filip Forsberg having an elite matchup at home against the Islanders? Yes. We know how good he’s been all year on home ice and tonight is no different. The Islanders are terrible on the penalty kill so that just adds even more value. I’ll probably only target Forsberg as a single-bullet in all formats.
Value Play Of The Day: Kailer Yamamoto - UTA
We are going straight to the bottom of the barrel here with Kailer Yamamoto. Utah has a date with Seattle at home and they have an implied team total of 4.0. Do I believe that? I don’t know, but Vegas does and they are usually right. Yamamoto is $2500 and is playing the second line. He’s a very risky option, but if he finds the scoresheet, he hits value.
Honorable Mention: Marcus Pettersson - VAN
Tyler Myers will not be in the lineup for Vancouver tonight, so someone needs to step up and eat more minutes. Marcus Pettersson is a good defenceman and he is very capable of blocking shots. We are chasing the shot block bonus here and he can do it against an elite Dallas offence. His price tag is very affordable on DK, so if he can hit value, that’s a win in our books.
Stack Of The Day - MTL PP1 (Nick Suzuki - Patrik Laine - Lane Hutson)
I’m not just picking Montreal because I want to be a homer, we know the Red Wings can’t defend on the penalty kill. Nick Suzuki has been one of the best players since the 4Nations and Patrik Laine loves to clap bombs from Ovechkin’s office. This is my stack of the day, and I expect it to hit.
