Pettersson appears to be the odd man out with Brian Dumoulin back in the fold from an illness. He has one goal 13 points, 54 shots, 54 blocks and 101 hits in 55 games this year. 

“He’s playing better,” said Sullivan. “He’s playing with more confidence. His game is more assertive on both sides of the puck. His decision making is assertive. It’s decisive. There’s no hesitation. A lot of that, I think, stems from confidence. He got off to a good start. He had a good training camp. That early success, I think, really helped him. His game, in my mind, has definitely taken a giant step forward. The way Marcus is playing right now is the player that we expect to have in our lineup each and every night. He’s a very good NHL defenseman. His whole overall game is just better.” Pettersson is a defensively minded blueliner, so he's not going to get much attention in fantasy circles, but he has been a solid part of the Penguins this season. He has a goal, six points, 17 blocks, and 45 hits in 21 games in 2021-22.

Pettersson wasn't eligible to play in Ottawa on Saturday because of the Canadian government's mandatory 14-day quarantine requirement following his previous positive test for COVID-19. He was injured on Thursday in his previous return from COVID-19 protocol, but he is projected to be ready to play on Sunday night. 

Pettersson was injured in his return to the lineup from COVID protocol on Thursday against Florida following a hit from Owen Tippett during the first period. It is unclear if he would have been available to play anyway, but he is ineligible for Saturday's match in Ottawa because of the Canadian government's mandatory 14-day quarantine requirement following his previous positive test for COVID-19.
