Welcome to the final NHL Playbook of 2024! It’s been quite a year for fantasy hockey, and we have one more slate to go before it’s all said and done. 

We have a multitude of teams on this slate with goal totals around four, so we are going to need to make some tough choices. Let’s take a look at some options and close the year out on a win.

 

 

 

NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, December 27th

Before we get into DFS, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option. 

 

 

 

NHL DFS Pick'em Picks On Sleeper Fantasy

The Anaheim Ducks are one of the worst defensive teams in the NHL and they are going to have a really hard time slowing down Jack Hughes and company. Hughes is an elite shooter, but he’s also a great puck distributor. I like his chances of getting an assist in this game.

The San Jose Sharks aren’t very good, but they are fun to watch. The Flyers have been horrendous defensively of late and are giving up way too many scoring chances. Macklin Celebrini is averaging a point-per-game, and this is a great matchup for him. He should be able to find the scoresheet one more time in 2024.

The Winnipeg Jets are an elite hockey team, and Colorado will have their hands full, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t going to generate some scoring chances. The Avalanche are a better team on home ice, so I’ll gladly take my chances with Nathan MacKinnon and his shot total. Getting the number at a slight discount works in our favor.

 

 

 

Tuesday Salary Cap DFS Picks

Goalie Of The Day: Filip Gustavsson - MIN

I know the Minnesota Wild are going to be without Kirill Kaprizov tonight, but let’s not pretend like the Nashville Predators are an elite hockey team. They are one of the worst offensive teams in the league and have THREE wins on the road this year. 

Filip Gustavsson has been very good this season and his matchup on paper is above average. Not sure why we are getting him at a discount on DraftKings, but we will take it and move on.

Player Of The Day: Jack Hughes - NJ

There are lots of elite players you can choose from tonight, Nathan MacKinnon, Connor McDavid, Kyle Connor. My favorite value superstar tonight is Jack Hughes. His matchup on paper is elite and he’s going to get so many quality chances. 

As mentioned above, the Ducks are terrible defensively and they are allowing close to 32 shots against per game. Hughes at $8800 just feels like a slight discount that we can’t pass up on.

 

 

 

Value Play Of The Day: Will Smith - SJ

We know that Celebrini is the best San Jose player on this team, but there’s another young player that we need to be watching tonight. Will Smith is still trying to find his game in the NHL, but he’s skating on the top line and seeing time on the second power play unit. The best part about all this, his ice time has increased dramatically. 

He played just over 19 minutes last game and 16 before that, much higher than his usual 11 minutes. With that kind of ice time, he’s going to get chances to rack up points. His $2700 price tag and his above-average matchup is enough for me to consider him as a single bullet in a GPP.

Stack Of The Day - EDM PP1 (Connor McDavid - Leon Draisaitl - Evan Bouchard)

If you’re going to break the bank on a three-man stack in a GPP, you’re probably best to do so with Edmonton’s power play. Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid are elite, and they get even better on home ice. 

They may not play together five-on-five, but that just gives us maximum exposure to the top six. It’s an expensive stack, but we know these three players can put up 60 combined points.
