NHL DFS Picks, Projections, Lineups & Stacks Today: Thursday Playbook

Published: Mar 27, 2025
Welcome to another NHL DFS Playbook! MLB is back today, but that doesn’t mean that hockey takes a back seat.
We have a massive 10-game slate and a lot of good matchups to target. Some folks may not be paying as much attention to how they build their lineups, but not you, because we have you covered! Let’s dive into the action and build a winning lineup.
NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, March 27th
Before we get into DFS, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper.
There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option.
NHL Pick 'Em Picks On Sleeper Fantasy Today
- Auston Matthews O/0.5 A
- Joey Daccord U/26.5 SV
- Filip Forsberg O/0.5 P
Targeting whatever team is playing against San Jose is always a good idea. Auston Matthews is very good at finding the back of the net, but he’s an assist machine on the road! The Leafs have a great matchup on paper and I expect Matthews to find the scoresheet with an assist.
I have no idea how we got Joey Daccord at this current number, but we are smashing the Under. The Oilers are playing their second game in as many nights and they will, once again, be with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl. Seattle isn’t a great hockey team, but they are slightly better on home ice. Daccord has been a mess in his last ten starts and maybe he won’t finish the game if things start on the wrong foot. The Under is the smart move.
Filip Forsberg on home ice is money. Maybe the matchup at home is better, but his splits are night and day. We’ll go a tad conservative here and take him to register over a point, but you could also target the over for his shot total.
Thursday Salary Cap NHL DFS Picks
Goalie Of The Day: Joseph Woll - TOR
Joseph Woll is putting together a decent season, but his road numbers could be a lot better. That being said, he does get a matchup with the San Jose Sharks and they are just terrible. The Leafs are heavy favourites and everyone (including me) expects them to win. If you’re chasing the win in cash games, this is the route to take.
Honorable Mention: Jakub Dobes - MTL
The Canadiens did not have a good showing against the St. Louis Blues, but they have a chance to rebound tonight. Jakub Dobes is getting the start against a Flyers team that just fired their coach. Sometimes teams get a boost from that, but even if Philadelphia plays better, Dobes is good enough to stand his ground. He’s a good option in a GPP.
Player Of The Day: John Tavares - TOR
I have no issue with anyone who wants to pay up for Auston Matthews, but why do that when you can get John Tavares at a discount? The veteran has been red hot of late, racking up 9 points in the last 4 games. He’s in a great spot tonight and could hit value before the second period is even over.
Honorable Mention: Nathan MacKinnon - COL
This feels like a brutal matchup for the Colorado Avalanche and Nathan MacKinnon, but that’s just not true. The Kings are very good, just not on the road, while MacKinnon on home ice is unstoppable. The last time these two teams met, Nate Dog finished with three assists. I know the price tag is up there, but we could get him at sub-10 % ownership in a GPP. Not terrible.
Value Play Of The Day: Jiri Kulich - BUF
Do I trust the Buffalo Sabres? No., but do I trust them more than Tristan Jarry? Very much so. Jarry has been a mess all season and that isn’t changing tonight. He couldn’t finish the last game and has now given up at least 3 goals in his last 5 starts. We need some exposure to Buffalo and we get that by playing Jiri Kulich. He’s on the top line and top power play unit with a reasonable price tag. If you’re looking for a single-bullet, this is an option.
Honorable Mention: Kaapo Kakko - SEA
These two teams are meeting for the second time in a week. Kaapo Kakko had two goals and three blocked shots in that first game and that was on the road. Now he gets a matchup at home against the Oilers on a back-to-back. I know he can be volatile, but Kakko has an enormous amount of upside.
Stack Of The Day - OTT PP1 (Brady Tkachuk - Dylan Cozens - Jake Sanderson)
There are a handful of good stacks to choose from tonight, but the best one is Ottawa’s top power play unit. The Red Wings can’t kill penalties, and this game is massive for both teams. Both teams may not take many penalties, but when the Senators get their chance, they won’t miss many.
