Welcome to our Monday Playbook and NHL DFS picks today!
We have a smaller four-game slate to start the week but some important games as we come down to the final stretch of the season.
NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, March 24th
We saw several teams post 3+ goals yesterday, an encouraging sign that teams are still looking to fly up and down the ice, which hopefully continues for tonight's NHL DFS picks.
NHL DFS Pick'em Picks on Underdog With Promo Code ALARM
- Bo Horvat Higher Than 2.5 Shots on Goal
- Matt Duchene Higher Than 1.5 Shots on Goal
- Dylan Guenther Higher Than 2.5 Shots on Goal
Bo Horvat is helping lead the Islanders in the wild card race and he comes in with at least three shots on goal in seven of his last 10 games. Tonight, he's up against the Blue Jackets, who have allowed 58.89 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 11th worst in the league since the start of March.
Matt Duchene has been sneaky consistent this season and will look to continue that tonight against the Minnesota Wild. Duchene has two shots or more in seven of his last 10 games and with time on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, the chances will always be there for him. The matchup is solid since the Wild have allowed 58.75 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 13th worst in the league since the start of March.
Dylan Guenther is a shot-machine recently with 43 shots on goal over his last 10 games. A shot-first mentality is my favorite thing in the NHL and he brings that every single night. Guenther has posted at least three shots on goal in nine straight games, making him live to hit this every night.
Monday Salary Cap DFS Picks
Goalie Of The Day: Ilya Sorokin - NYI
The New York Islanders are set to take on the Columbus Blue Jackets in a very important game in the Eastern Conference wild-card race. Both teams are on the outside looking in right now and are separated by only two points, which should give us a playoff-type environment tonight.
Over the last two weeks, the Blue Jackets offense has struggled and has only scored 1.38 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the second-lowest in the league. During that same time, the Islanders have only allowed 2.08 Goals, which is the 10th-best in the NHL.
While Sorokin has had some ups and downs this season, he's playing at his best right now, having allowed only two goals in four of his last five starts.
Play Of The Day: Jason Robertson - W - DAL
The Dallas Stars come in with a strong 3.4 implied goal total tonight against the Minnesota Wild, which should be the game of the night.
Jason Robertson comes in with 4 goals, 5 assists, and 19 shots on goal over his last 10 games, making him one of the most consistent options on the slate. Ideally, we'd see that shot volume a bit higher to up his scoring potential, but the scoring is solid and the ceiling of the line with Roope Hintz and Mikko Rantanen is massive.
Value Play Of The Day: Jake DeBrusk - W - VAN
The Vancouver Canucks are dealing with a few injuries to their forwards right now and it opens up some opportunities for Jake DeBrusk. He's already on the second forward line and the second power-play unit, but that could change if Elias Pettersson and Nils Hoglander both don't play tonight.
DeBrusk comes in with 5 points and 25 shots on goal over the last 10 games, which should put him in a good spot against the New Jersey Devils, who have been struggling on defense. Over the last two weeks, the Devils have allowed 3.34 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the fourth-worst in the league.
Stack Of The Day: UTA PP1 (Dylan Guenther, Nick Schmaltz, Clayton Keller, Mikhail Sergachev)
The Utah Hockey Club comes in with a slate-high 3.7 implied goal total at home, as they are set to take on the Detroit Red Wings. Surprisingly, the Utah offense has been cookin' lately, having scored 3.04 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last two weeks, which is the eighth-best in the league.
This four-man stack has done most of that work with Guenther posting 5 points and 43 shots. Keller with 8 points and 23 shots. Schmaltz with 10 points and 27 shots. And Sergacheve with 7 points and 18 shots.

Player News
Dolphins signed No. 13 overall pick DT Kenneth Grant to a four-year contract.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Grant will sign his contract today. The former Michigan defensive tackle is expected to fill a major void left by Christian Wilkins, who left for the Raiders in the 2024 offseason. Grant totaled 32 tackles, three sacks, and seven TFLs in his final season at Michigan and excelled at stopping the run while also generating 27 pressures in his final season, per PFF.
Daulton Varsho picked up three hits, three RBI and a homer in a win over the Angels on Thursday.
Varsho has only played in seven games this year, but they’ve been seven good ones. He’s homered three times already, and his slugging percentage is a remarkable — and entirely unsustainable — .727 over 22 at-bats. Varsho has been a mediocre offensive player in his two seasons with the Blue Jays, but it’s possible at the age of 28 he’s having a breakout campaign. Far from a guarantee, but possible.
Taylor Ward hit a two-run homer in a loss to the Blue Jays on Thursday.
Ward, 31, gave the Angels a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer off Chris Bassitt in the first inning. He’s now gone deep in two of his last three games, and it ‘improves’ his slash to .181/.224/.391. Ward has been one of the most hot/cold players players in the sport over the last few years, so fantasy managers who can afford to make some roster moves may want to look at Ward while the going is good.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. picked up three hits and scored twice in an 8-5 win over the Angels on Thursday.
Guerrero also drew a walk. It gives the first baseman multiple hits in back-to-back games, and it’s the third time in May that he’s reached that mark. That’s helped raise his average from .268 to .295, and the only thing fantasy managers can be disappointed with is his .432 slugging percentage. That number should continue to climb as the season unfolds, but Vladdy Jr. has had some inconsistent seasons when it comes to power production.
Chad Green picked up his first save of 2025 with a scoreless ninth against the Angels on Thursday.
Green got the save after Jeff Hoffman worked in back-to-back games — and struggled — in the first two contests against the Angels. He struck out two and looked the part while needing just nine pitches to get through the inning. Hoffman should remain the closer, but Green is on his tail if the struggles were to continue.
Chris Bassitt allowed five runs — four earned — while working six-plus innings against the Angels on Thursday while picking up a win.
Bassitt allowed three runs over the first two innings on a pair of homers, but settled down over his next four frames. He came out to work the seventh, but ended up being charged for two more runs after leaving the contest. The 36-year-old veteran has forged a 3.35 ERA and outstanding 49/8 K/BB ratio over the first quarter of the season, but this wasn’t him at his best. He’ll get the Rays next week if the rotation order stays the same for Toronto.
