Welcome to today's NHL DFS picks and Playbook!
It's a smaller slate to kick off the week but we are in the stretch run of the season, with about 20 games left for most teams. Buckle up!
NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, March 10th
Despite tonight only have four games, we have a loaded center position featuring Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Nathan MacKinnon, and Auston Matthews!
NHL DFS Pick'em Picks On Underdog With Promo Code ALARM
- Brady Tkachuk Higher Than 3.5 Shots on Goal
- Cale Makar Higher Than 0.5 Assists
- Ryan Nugent-Hopkins Lower Than 1.5 Shots on Goal
Brady Tkachuk is a shot-machine, coming in with 253, which is good for the third-most in the league. He comes in with a whopping 56 shots on goal over his last 10 games, which puts him over this mark in seven of those 10 games. This is an extremely important matchup for the Eastern Conference wild-card standings and it's time for the Senators best player to show up.
Cale Makar and the Colorado Avalanche have a staggering 4.6 implied goal total tonight against the lowly Chicago Blackhawks, and there's no reason to think they can't exceed that. Makar is having another Norris-caliber season and comes in with 12 assists in just his last 10 games. With the reloaded forward group after the deadline, the Avs should continue their streak of at least four goals in five straight games.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins simply isn't shooting the puck at a high enough volume for us to trust him on a nightly basis. He has just 12 shots on goal over his last 10 games, going over this mark just three times. While the matchup against the Buffalo Sabres is a friendly one, RNH isn't a player to trust tonight.
Monday Salary Cap DFS Picks
Goalie Of The Day: Linus Ullmark - OTT
Linus Ullmark is my pick for goalie tonight, who is slated to start against the Detroit Red Wings.
On this side of the 4 Nations break, the Red Wings have scored a paltry 1.63 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the third-lowest in the league. I'm not going to say this is going to be a super clean win for Ullmark, but he's facing an offense that is really struggling to put up consistent numbers on offense.
Play Of The Day: Nathan MacKinnon - COL
We have four of the best centers in the league all on the same slate and I'm siding with Nathan MacKinnon. Over the last 10 games, he has 21 points and 48 shots on goal. Compare that to McDavid, who has 11 points and 29 shots on goal. Draisaitl has 16 points and 27 shots on goal. And Matthews has 13 points and 42 shots on goal.
Of course, this is largely splitting hairs when it's all said and done since any of these players could drop a three-point night with five or more shots on goal, but MacKinnon simply brings the highest level of consistency right now.
It also helps that the Colorado Avalanche have a slate-high 4.6 implied goal total, while the Edmonton Oilers are at 3.8, and the Toronto Maple Leaf are at 3.2.
Value Play Of The Day: Dylan Cozens - OTT
The newly acquired Dylan Cozens made a solid debut for the Senators with one assist and one shot the other night, a mark he can certainly build on.
More importantly, he's on the second forward line and the first power-play unit, a very encouraging sign for Cozens. The Sens didn't trade for him for no reason. They believe in his talent and want him to be a primary option on offense for them. The Red Wings are in the bottom half of the league since the 4 Nations break allowing 2.67 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is a solid match for Cozens to attack.
Stack Of The Day: COL L1 (Nathan MacKinnon, Artturi Lehkonen, Martin Necas)
Listen, I know this stack is expensive and we're dealing with a smaller four-game slate so there isn't a ton of value out there, but it's still worth jamming them in. I've even made a stack of these three plus Cale Makar, to go full-on COL PP1. I'm not saying it's easy but a stars and scrubs build is always possible when the top-end talent can legitimately put up three goals on their own.
With a 4.6 implied goal total, I want a ton of exposure to the Avalanche and their top unit, starting with L1, then PP1, then L2.

Player News
Dolphins signed No. 13 overall pick DT Kenneth Grant to a four-year contract.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that Grant will sign his contract today. The former Michigan defensive tackle is expected to fill a major void left by Christian Wilkins, who left for the Raiders in the 2024 offseason. Grant totaled 32 tackles, three sacks, and seven TFLs in his final season at Michigan and excelled at stopping the run while also generating 27 pressures in his final season, per PFF.
Daulton Varsho picked up three hits, three RBI and a homer in a win over the Angels on Thursday.
Varsho has only played in seven games this year, but they’ve been seven good ones. He’s homered three times already, and his slugging percentage is a remarkable — and entirely unsustainable — .727 over 22 at-bats. Varsho has been a mediocre offensive player in his two seasons with the Blue Jays, but it’s possible at the age of 28 he’s having a breakout campaign. Far from a guarantee, but possible.
Taylor Ward hit a two-run homer in a loss to the Blue Jays on Thursday.
Ward, 31, gave the Angels a 2-0 lead with a two-run homer off Chris Bassitt in the first inning. He’s now gone deep in two of his last three games, and it ‘improves’ his slash to .181/.224/.391. Ward has been one of the most hot/cold players players in the sport over the last few years, so fantasy managers who can afford to make some roster moves may want to look at Ward while the going is good.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. picked up three hits and scored twice in an 8-5 win over the Angels on Thursday.
Guerrero also drew a walk. It gives the first baseman multiple hits in back-to-back games, and it’s the third time in May that he’s reached that mark. That’s helped raise his average from .268 to .295, and the only thing fantasy managers can be disappointed with is his .432 slugging percentage. That number should continue to climb as the season unfolds, but Vladdy Jr. has had some inconsistent seasons when it comes to power production.
Chad Green picked up his first save of 2025 with a scoreless ninth against the Angels on Thursday.
Green got the save after Jeff Hoffman worked in back-to-back games — and struggled — in the first two contests against the Angels. He struck out two and looked the part while needing just nine pitches to get through the inning. Hoffman should remain the closer, but Green is on his tail if the struggles were to continue.
Chris Bassitt allowed five runs — four earned — while working six-plus innings against the Angels on Thursday while picking up a win.
Bassitt allowed three runs over the first two innings on a pair of homers, but settled down over his next four frames. He came out to work the seventh, but ended up being charged for two more runs after leaving the contest. The 36-year-old veteran has forged a 3.35 ERA and outstanding 49/8 K/BB ratio over the first quarter of the season, but this wasn’t him at his best. He’ll get the Rays next week if the rotation order stays the same for Toronto.
