Welcome to our Friday Playbook and NHL DFS picks today!
We have about three weeks left in the regular season, and the playoff picture is becoming clear. Let's lean into teams that are fighting for points and playoff positioning.
NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, March 28th
We've seen some wild results over the past few days with the Lightning seemingly scoring a million goals every night and the Senators pushing towards the playoffs.
NHL DFS Pick'em Picks on Sleeper Fantasy
- Frank Vatrano More Than 2.5 Shots on Goal
- Pavel Dorofeyev More Than 0.5 Goals
- Kyle Connor More Than 0.5 Goals
Over the last two weeks, the New York Rangers have allowed 60.94 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the ninth-worst in the league. While the Ducks aren't some lights-out offensive team, they have been playing well, so let's turn to Frank Vatrano for some shots tonight. Over his last 10 games, he has at least two shots in eight games, and more than 2.5 four times.
Pavel Dorofeyev is having an awesome season with 30 goals, which are the second-most on the Golden Knights. He comes in with no goals over his last three games but 12 shots in that time. As usual, a strong goal-scorer who hasn't scored in a few games, and has a great matchup against a terrible defense in the Blackhawks.
The New Jersey Devils have slipped on defense, and over the last two weeks, they've allowed 2.85 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the 11th worst in the league. Kyle Connor has the third-most (37) goals in the league this season and is set to play tonight after the birth of a child. I love a good baby narrative, especially when we have an elite goal-scorer.
Thursday Salary Cap DFS Picks
Goalie Of The Day: Connor Hellebuyck - WPG
Connor Hellebuyck is on his way to winning the Vezina Trophy this season, and we get him at a very affordable salary on DraftKings tonight at only $7.9K.
The matchup is better than you may realize since the New Jersey Devils have really been struggling on offense recently, only scoring 1.83 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last two weeks, which is the seventh-lowest in the league.
Hellebuyck has allowed two goals or fewer in three of his last starts, coming away with the win four times in that span. The Devils have been anything but consistent recently, and there's no reason the Jets shouldn't come away with the win tonight.
Play Of The Day: Jack Eichel - VGK
The Vegas Golden Knights come in with a massive 4.2 implied goal total against the lowly Chicago Blackhawks, and there's no reason the Golden Knights can't hit that total.
Jack Eichel is coming off a hat-trick the other night, and while we're not trying to chase that level of production, we have to go back to him tonight. He has 16 points, 28 shots on goal, and 6 blocked shots in his last 10 games, giving us a nice floor of points along with access to a ceiling.
The Chicago Blackhawks have allowed 4.33 Goals per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations over the last two weeks, which is the second-worst in the league. Eichel and the Golden Knights have a chance to extend their lead in the Pacific Division and come away with an easy win over Chicago tonight.
Value Play Of The Day: Logan Stankoven - CAR
Logan Stankoven and the Carolina Hurricanes have a solid 3.6 implied goal total and are looking to pick up a win after a tough loss to the Predators the other night.
Stankoven has been solid since he joined the Hurricanes with 19 shots on goal, 2 assists, and 1 goal. He's seeing time on the third forward line and the second power-play unit. He's shaping up to be the primary shooter on that third forward line, while coming in under $5K on DraftKings.
Stack Of The Day: VGK PP1 (Jack Eichel, Pavel Dorofeyev, Mark Stone, Shea Theodore)
Vegas is an absolute powerhouse on offense right now, with four goals or more in four straight games, and that should continue tonight versus Chicago. I do expect Vegas to be a bit chalky, but they have some serious upside tonight.
Eichel comes in with 16 points and 28 shots in his last 10 games. Dorofeyev has 8 points and 38 shots. Stone has 12 points and 26 shots. Theodore has 6 points and 21 shots.
Eichel and Stone are on the first forward line together, so there's a nice bit of correlation there as well. If you can't afford all four, I would opt for Dorofeyev before Theodore. I want the pure scoring upside that Dorofeyev brings from shots and goals.
