The deal has an average annual value of $3.65 million. Vatrano produced 18 goals and 32 points in 71 games for Florida and the New York Rangers during the 2021-22 season. He was also credited with 161 shots and 68 hits. 

In a game where New York struggled to gain an offensive foothold, Vatrano offered a jolt with his game-tying goal against Andrei Vasilevskiy with under seven minutes remaining in the third period. That one knotted up the scoreboard at 1-1, but Steven Stamkos almost immediately jumped the Lightning back on top with an answering goal 21 seconds later. Vatrano finished the postseason having tallied five goals and 13 points in 20 games.

Vatrano set up a power-play goal by Artemi Panarin late in the third period to get the Rangers on the board. He has four goals and eight helpers in 18 games this postseason, including one marker and four assists in his past five outings. 

Vatrano has four goals and 11 points in 16 games and has been a valued addition since his trade from Florida on March 16 in exchange for only a fourth-round pick. Vatrano has three points in the two games against Tampa Bay after setting up K'Andre Miller for the Rangers opening goal.
