Welcome back for another NHL Playbook! Seven games on tonight’s slate feature some elite scoring hockey teams but don’t worry, we have you covered.

We must also be aware of some goalie traps that are out there *cough* Scott Wedgewood *cough* and which under-the-radar netminders may be worth considering. Let’s dive into the action and see who we need to be targeting.

NHL DFS Picks & Daily Fantasy Playbook Today, December 20th

Before we get into DFS, let’s make some pick’em picks for the night over on Sleeper.

There are lots of ways we try to fill your wallet over here at Fantasy Alarm and this is just another option.

NHL DFS Pick'em Picks On Sleeper With Promo Code VAULT3

The Colorado Avalanche may be playing on back-to-back nights, but they have an elite matchup against Anaheim. Cale Makar has been as advertised and continues to rack up the points. He’s in a great spot to pick up at least one assist.

There has been no player hotter over the last few games than Patrik Laine. He has six goals in seven games this season, all of which have come on the power play. Detroit’s penalty kill is operating at 67.5%. See what I’m getting at here? If anyone is going to rock another goal home on the man advantage for Montreal, it’s him.

Matt Murray is making his first start in over a year tonight against the Buffalo Sabres, who are on an 11-game losing streak. They might be a trash hockey team, but I have no faith in Murray. He’s not going to pick up a shoutout tonight. If anything, he might allow a few goals and Buffalo comes away victorious. Tage Thompson is their best forward, and I like his chances of getting on the scoresheet tonight.

Friday Salary Cap DFS Picks

Goalie Of The Day: Jake Oettinger - DAL

Before we get into Jake Oettinger, don’t play Scott Wedgewood tonight. It’s a trap. You’ve been warned.

Alright, back to the main topic. The Rangers are going through quite a rough patch, and they look lost. This team can’t win a game and their offence is lacking. Dallas is a good overall team, and Jake Oettinger has been very good at home. He can pick up the win and maybe flirt with the save bonus.

Play Of The Day: Auston Matthews - TOR

I’ll start by saying that I think Nathan MacKinnon is a great option tonight, but I like the upside of Auston Matthews just a little bit more.

AM34 is an elite goalscorer and he gets to face a Buffalo team that has lost 11 in a row and are playing some of the worst defense we’ve ever seen. There’s a legit chance he goes off tonight and I want to be part of that.

Value Play Of The Day: Jacob Trouba - ANA

It’s not a crazy discount, but it’s enough to get my attention. Jacob Trouba has fit nicely into this Anaheim lineup and he’s seeing a decent number of minutes. The great part is, he’s been blocking A LOT of shots, 16 over the last three games to be exact.

He’s hitting the bonus on DK without registering a point, so he needs to be in our lineup tonight against Colorado. I’d like him to be a little cheaper, but he’s still enough of a discount to allow me to use the salary savings to pay up for another elite forward.

Stack Of The Day - MTL PP1 (Patrik Laine - Cole Caufield - Lane Hutson)

The Montreal power play has been COOKING of late, and Patrik Laine is the main reason. His six power play goals have been a welcomed addition to the team, and he may add a few more to his total before the end of the night.

As mentioned above, the Red Wings are embarrassingly bad on the penalty kill, so I’ll gladly take two elite snipers and a rookie defenseman who is already up to over 20 assists on the season.
