NHL Picks, Predictions & Best Bets Today, 11/3
We're coming off a nice set of games on Friday night, where both Bo Horvat and Artemi Panarin hit their props I wrote about. Let's keep things rolling today and close out the week with some more NHL Best Bets.
Washington Capitals vs. Carolina Hurricanes Prediction: Sunday, November 3rd
As usual, the Carolina Hurricanes like to create a ton of chances and it leads to a high level of consistency for player props, so that's where we're going tonight.
The Canes are at home to host the Washington Capitals, who are on the second night of a back-to-back and are a team I have no problem targeting for player props. This season, the Hurricanes lead the league with 73.22 Total Shot Attempts Created per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations. This has been their calling card for many seasons now and it leads to them piling up the shots early and often.
One such player who is doing that on a regular basis is Andrei Svechnikov. He leads the team with 36 shots on goal in nine games this season or 4 shots per game. Time on the first forward line and the first power-play unit put him in the ideal spot to rack up plenty of shots and hit over 3.5 shots on goal. This is a mark he has passed in six of the nine games this season.
- Expert Picks Capitals vs. Hurricanes
- Andrei Svechnikov Over 3.5 Shots on Goal (+122 on FanDuel)
Edmonton Oilers vs. Calgary Flames Prediction: Sunday, November 3rd
The Battle of Alberta adds another chapter tonight when the Calgary Flames host the Edmonton Oilers. This game will be a bit of a different look with Connor McDavid out due to an ankle injury.
Regardless, we should still be in for a great game tonight and it brings me to one player, Leon Draisaitl. With McDavid out, if Draisaitl's shot prop is still going to be 2.5, I'm going to take it every time. It's really that simple. The best offensive player in the world is out for the Oilers and Draisaitl has to do just a bit more to keep their offense moving forward.
That's not the only reason, this is actually a legitimately great matchup for the Oilers. This season, the Flames are allowing 65.02 Total Shot Attempts per 60 minutes in five-on-five situations, which is the sixth-worst in the NHL.
While there is no McDavid tonight, Draisaitl and the Oilers have a chance to jump on a weaker defense and pile up plenty of shots tonight.
- Expert Picks Oilers vs Flames
- Leon Draisaitl Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-140 on DraftKings)
Best NHL Prop Bets & Other Picks Today, 11/3
- Auston Matthews Over 4.5 Shots on Goal (+106 on FanDuel)
