NFL Underdog Fantasy Top Picks
Week 8 Thursday Night Football Buccaneers vs Bills Picks
Stefon Diggs, Buffalo Bills – HIGHER Than 85.5 Receiving Yards
In last week’s loss to the Patriots, Stefon Diggs was mostly held in check with his six catches for 58 yards and a TD. Let’s bank on a bounce-back performance for the Buffalo Bills’ star wide receiver in a much easier matchup at home on Thursday night. Diggs has 100+ receiving yards in five of seven games this season. He’s by far the Bills’ top receiving weapon this season and is locked into targets. His 78 targets, 55 receptions, and 678 receiving yards through seven games all lead the team by a big margin.
Diggs saw 12 targets last week and has double-digit targets in five of seven contests so far. It’s essentially only Gabe Davis and Dalton Kincaid as the secondary targets behind Diggs. We can get excited about Kincaid with Dawson Knox out, but the Bucs have been tougher on tight ends this season.
As for the matchup, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been shaky against the pass this season. The Bucs are allowing 246.7 passing yards per game, the sixth-worst in the NFL. Tampa Bay has also given up big games to multiple opposing WR1s: Justin Jefferson (150 yards), Amon-Ra St. Brown (124 yards), A.J. Brown (131 yards), and DJ Moore (104 yards) have all gone for 100+ yards against the weak Buccaneers secondary.
If you need any more convincing, check out this tweet from Diggs following last week’s subpar performance. Doesn’t this sound like a guy who’s motivated to ball out on national TV?
Rachaad White, Tampa Bay Buccaneers – HIGHER Than 46.5 Rushing Yards
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are sizable underdogs on the road for tonight’s Thursday Night Football matchup against the Buffalo Bills. That might lead you to think Rachaad White’s rushing yards could be limited with a negative game script. However, this line is a touch too low when considering the Bills’ recent struggles against opposing RBs.
First off, White has only rushed for 50+ yards in two of six games this season. The track record isn’t great and White is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry. However, he’s also faced some of the better run defenses in the NFL. White’s opponents so far have been the Eagles (1st in rushing yards allowed per game), Lions (2nd), Bears (5th), Falcons (8th), Saints (12th), and Vikings (15th). Those are all matchups in the top half of rush defenses.
Tonight will now be White’s easiest matchup to date this year. The Bills are allowing 128.3 rushing yards per game (23rd in NFL) and they’ve struggled against opposing lead backs almost every contest. In seven games, Buffalo has allowed five opposing RBs to run for 70+ yards. Recently, the Bills’ run defense has especially struggled with linebacker Matt Milano out. Over the past three games since Milano went down, here are the stat lines for opposing backs: Travis Etienne 136 rush yards on 26 carries, Saquon Barkley 93 rush yards on 24 carries, Rhamondre Stevenson and Ezekiel Elliott 65 combined yards on 20 carries.
White is the Buccaneers’ main ball carrier when the offense looks to run the ball. His 83 carries this season are miles ahead of Ke’Shawn Vaughn (19 carries) and Sean Tucker (15). White has seen 13+ rush attempts in five of six games so far and should see a solid workload tonight. The Bills defense also has a couple of key injuries to monitor outside of Milano being out. DT Ed Oliver missed last week with a toe injury and is questionable to play tonight, while Von Miller has not been as effective this season coming off last year’s ACL injury and he only played six snaps last game.

Raiders.com reporter Levi Edwards said WR Dont’e Thornton Jr. “has already become a top target” for Geno Smith.
Edwards writes, Thornton is “using his speed to get vertical down the field,” towers “over smaller defenders in the middle of the field and [uses] his acceleration to create separation consistently.” Questioning Thornton’s 2025 fantasy impact is reasonable. In a best-case outcome, Thornton would likely be operating as the No. 4 receiving weapon behind Brock Bowers, Jakobi Meyers and Ashton Jeanty, leaving him with an unreliable target share. Still, this is the second positive report on Thornton in as many weeks. Perhaps, the Raiders found a starter in the fourth round. Stay tuned.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan said Darius Slayton has formed a “really quality connection” with Russell Wilson.
Raanan notes that Malik Nabers has been sidelined, but Slayton’s “really solid” spring showing, coupled with Jalin Hyatt’s minor leg injury, bodes positively for Slayton’s grip on the No. 2 perimeter role. If Hyatt can get healthy and improve his play, he could challenge Slayton in-season, but for now, it appears as though the Giants’ steady 28-year-old field-stretcher will continue doing his thing. He can be treated as a volatile, likely matchup-based flex option.
Saints waived RB Xazavian Valladay.
The Saints also waived S Tra Fluellen and correspondingly signed CB Jayden Price, TE Seth Green and OT Barry Wesley. Cam Akers’ recent signing made Valladay obsolete, while also putting Kendre Miller, Devin Neal and Clyde Edwards-Helaire on notice.
Giants WR Jalin Hyatt suffered a “minor” leg injury during Tuesday’s mandatory minicamp practice.
It’s an unfortunate development for a player who Raanan described as having made “plays downfield early in camp” and looking like a better, “more confident player.” Raanan also downplayed Hyatt’s purported 15-20-pound weight gain, though he did say Hyatt “did put on weight.” Hopefully, Hyatt can get healthy in time for the start of training camp next month.
Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the Rams and Chargers are among Jalen Ramsey’s preferred landing spots.
Schefter said Ramsey “would like to go to the West Coast,” and specifically named Los Angeles as the ideal city. Schefter also believes a deal should happen before training camps begin in mid-July. Both the Rams and Chargers have more than $20 million available in salary cap space this year, which should make a new deal doable if Ramsey requests one post-trade, though he is under contract through 2028 on his current deal.
Christian Watson (knee) posted a video of himself running a route during a private workout.
Watson notably tagged a physical therapist in the post, ostensibly suggesting he is running and cutting under supervision by a medical professional. In the video, Watson can be seen running up and out, cutting left and right before striding downfield. It is difficult to measure Watson’s speed and exertion, but this video is, of course, positive. Watson suffered a torn ACL in Week 18 (January 5th, 2025). His surgery date and expected return date remain unknown, however, players typically return to play 10-12 months following ACL reconstruction.
