NFL Underdog Fantasy Top Picks
Week 7 Thursday Night Football Jaguars vs Saints Picks
Chris Olave, New Orleans Saints – HIGHER Than 62.5 Receiving Yards
After leading the New Orleans Saints in receiving yards last year as a rookie, Chris Olave is well on his way to doing it again this season. The second-year wide receiver leads the Saints in receiving yards (414), receptions (32), and targets (53) through the first six games. Olave is averaging 69 receiving yards per game and has cleared this posted line in four of six contests so far.
Olave also has at least 86 receiving yards in four of six games with 10+ targets in those as well. The two outliers deserve some context as to why he didn’t perform well. In Week 4, Derek Carr was dealing with a shoulder injury that resulted in a bad passing day overall for New Orleans. In Week 5, Olave rolled his ankle pre-game and then the Saints just didn’t pass as much in a blowout win over the Patriots.
In every other game this season, though, Olave has produced and he’s going well over this receiving yards line. Expect him to show out tonight and take advantage of a favorable matchup. The Jacksonville Jaguars are allowing 270.3 passing yards per game, the second-most in the league. The Jags have also given up big games to multiple opposing wide receivers. Michael Pittman (97 and 109 receiving yards), Stefon Diggs (121), Gabe Davis (100), Tank Dell (145), and Skyy Moore (70) have all gone over this mark this season. The Jags also have the third-best rush defense in the NFL, so expect the Saints to go to the air more often and Olave will be Carr’s top target when they do.
Rayshawn Jenkins, Jacksonville Jaguars – HIGHER Than 6.0 Tackles + Assists
We’ve been hitting on these defensive player picks for Monday and Thursday Night Football, so let’s fire up another one. Jacksonville Jaguars safety Rayshawn Jenkins is second on the team in total tackles this season with 35, averaging 5.8 total tackles per game. Though he is notably behind linebacker Foyesade Oluokun’s 67 tackles for the team lead, Jenkins should still be plenty involved tonight. The Jags’ 3-4 defense calls for Jenkins, as the strong safety, to be one of the team’s top tacklers alongside Oluokun. He’s had 6+ tackles in three of six games this year, but this matchup should result in more opportunities than usual. Last year, Jenkins averaged 6.8 total tackles per game in this Jacksonville defense.
The New Orleans Saints have a balanced offensive game plan with a pretty even split of run and pass plays. As the Jaguars’ strong safety, Jenkins is in a great spot to rack up tackles no matter the play call. On runs, Jenkins will be in position to make tackles while playing closer to the line of scrimmage. On passes, the Saints don’t throw downfield too often with Derek Carr usually opting for shorter completions – which still keeps Jenkins around the ball.
Interestingly, the Saints’ offensive system has resulted in tons of tackle opportunities for opposing safeties nearly every week this season. Through the first six games, 10 of the opposing 12 starting safeties have had 6+ total tackles against New Orleans. There’s also been at least one opposing safety every game to have at least six tackles vs the Saints. These safeties are also usually among the opposing team’s leading tacklers each week. That plays right into Jenkins’ trend of being one of the Jaguars’ top tacklers each game.

Raiders.com reporter Levi Edwards said WR Dont’e Thornton Jr. “has already become a top target” for Geno Smith.
Edwards writes, Thornton is “using his speed to get vertical down the field,” towers “over smaller defenders in the middle of the field and [uses] his acceleration to create separation consistently.” Questioning Thornton’s 2025 fantasy impact is reasonable. In a best-case outcome, Thornton would likely be operating as the No. 4 receiving weapon behind Brock Bowers, Jakobi Meyers and Ashton Jeanty, leaving him with an unreliable target share. Still, this is the second positive report on Thornton in as many weeks. Perhaps, the Raiders found a starter in the fourth round. Stay tuned.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan said Darius Slayton has formed a “really quality connection” with Russell Wilson.
Raanan notes that Malik Nabers has been sidelined, but Slayton’s “really solid” spring showing, coupled with Jalin Hyatt’s minor leg injury, bodes positively for Slayton’s grip on the No. 2 perimeter role. If Hyatt can get healthy and improve his play, he could challenge Slayton in-season, but for now, it appears as though the Giants’ steady 28-year-old field-stretcher will continue doing his thing. He can be treated as a volatile, likely matchup-based flex option.
Saints waived RB Xazavian Valladay.
The Saints also waived S Tra Fluellen and correspondingly signed CB Jayden Price, TE Seth Green and OT Barry Wesley. Cam Akers’ recent signing made Valladay obsolete, while also putting Kendre Miller, Devin Neal and Clyde Edwards-Helaire on notice.
Giants WR Jalin Hyatt suffered a “minor” leg injury during Tuesday’s mandatory minicamp practice.
It’s an unfortunate development for a player who Raanan described as having made “plays downfield early in camp” and looking like a better, “more confident player.” Raanan also downplayed Hyatt’s purported 15-20-pound weight gain, though he did say Hyatt “did put on weight.” Hopefully, Hyatt can get healthy in time for the start of training camp next month.
Speaking on the Pat McAfee Show, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said the Rams and Chargers are among Jalen Ramsey’s preferred landing spots.
Schefter said Ramsey “would like to go to the West Coast,” and specifically named Los Angeles as the ideal city. Schefter also believes a deal should happen before training camps begin in mid-July. Both the Rams and Chargers have more than $20 million available in salary cap space this year, which should make a new deal doable if Ramsey requests one post-trade, though he is under contract through 2028 on his current deal.
Christian Watson (knee) posted a video of himself running a route during a private workout.
Watson notably tagged a physical therapist in the post, ostensibly suggesting he is running and cutting under supervision by a medical professional. In the video, Watson can be seen running up and out, cutting left and right before striding downfield. It is difficult to measure Watson’s speed and exertion, but this video is, of course, positive. Watson suffered a torn ACL in Week 18 (January 5th, 2025). His surgery date and expected return date remain unknown, however, players typically return to play 10-12 months following ACL reconstruction.
