Week 11 Monday Night Football Eagles vs Chiefs Predictions

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles – HIGHER Than 8.5 Rushing Attempts

When the Philadelphia Eagles are in close games or primetime matchups, Jalen Hurts runs the ball more. It’s a trend that dates back to last season, including the playoffs. The Eagles’ dual-threat quarterback takes matters into his own hands more often on the biggest stages or when his team needs his running most. Hurts has more than 8.5 rush attempts in seven of nine games this season with double-digit carries in all three of Philly’s primetime contests. Hurts had 9+ rush attempts in 14 of 18 games last year, including all three playoff games and 4-of-5 primetime contests.

Hurts racks up his carries in a variety of ways whether it’s on designed runs, RPOs, or scrambles. Oh, and there’s the infamous Tush Push QB sneak. Count on a couple of Brotherly Shoves tonight to add to the rush attempt total as well. The Kansas City Chiefs boast a top-5 passing defense and that alone should lead to more Hurts scrambles when receivers are covered on third downs. 

Coming out of the bye week, Hurts should feel fresher running-wise when you consider he’s been playing on a banged-up knee. The bye came at a good time before this Monday night matchup and Hurts has reportedly shed the bulky knee brace in practice. Another interesting wrinkle is that the Chiefs have only faced one true rushing QB all season when Justin Fields had 11 attempts for 47 yards against them back in Week 3. The other dual-threat they faced was Russell Wilson and he had eight rush attempts two games ago. 

Isiah Pacheco, Kansas City Chiefs – LOWER Than 48.5 Rushing Yards

This rushing yards line may seem a little low when you consider Isiah Pacheco is averaging 58.3 rushing yards per game this season. He also has more than 48.5 rush yards in six of nine games so far. However, Pacheco has yet to face a rush defense as good as Philly’s and the yards should be hard to come by tonight. The Philadelphia Eagles boast the league’s best rush defense, allowing an NFL-low 66.3 rushing yards per game this year. Lead running backs are averaging just 43 yards per game against the Eagles D with six of nine being held below 48.5 yards. 

In addition to the tough matchup, other key factors should limit Pacheco’s total rushing yards tonight. For one, the Chiefs still use Jerick McKinnon on 25-40% of snaps in the backfield and also mix in Clyde Edwards-Helaire at times. Pacheco isn’t a bell-cow back, though he is the team’s best rushing option. On that note, the Chiefs could be looking to throw more than usual tonight because of the matchup and the Eagles allowing the fourth-most passing yards per game this season. If so, we could see McKinnon more than normal as he is KC’s best passing-down back.
